WCA postpones 2017 event
The WCA 2017 Finals have been postponed to next year, the event's organisers have announced.
World Cyber Arena has revealed that, "after careful consideration", the 2017 Finals, originally scheduled for December 17-22, will run at an unspecified date in 2018.
According to the announcement, this postponement is not only "due to the events, tournaments schedule and player plan conflicts", but also because of "Christmas and other major tournaments like ELEAGUE Major".
Although the ECS Season 4 Finals do not affect most of the teams that are confirmed for WCA 2017 Finals—only Luminosity are still battling for a place at the Mexican event —, the fact that the dates of the two competitions clashed is believed to have influenced the decision.
With only the Chinese and the Wild Card qualifiers still to be played, here is how the list of participants of WCA 2017 Finals, which will be held in Yinchuan, China, currently looks:
