mousesports breeze past Gambit; to DH Winter final
mousesports are through to the DreamHack Open Winter grand final after defeating Gambit on two maps (16-9 on Nuke, 16-1 on Train).
The second semi-final of the day began on mousesports' map pick, Nuke, with Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný's side winning the pistol round with a successful A execution. Gambit responded with double-kills from Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev and Bektiyar "fitch" Bahytov in the next round to tie up the game, but mousesports got back in the lead with a force-buy of their own.
mousesports kept piling on the pressure, winning four of the next six rounds. And even though Gambit tightened up their defense to reduce the deficit to 3-6, mousesports immediately replied to break their opponents' economy. Unable to string any rounds together and to build up their economy, Gambit went into the break down 5-10.
Gambit got within touching distance of mousesports after picking up the second pistol and the subsequent anti-ecos. That was when Miikka "suNny" Kemppi came up huge, winning two consecutive clutches to set his team up for a 12-8 lead. From there on out, despite Gambit continuously trying to find a way to break through mousesports' defence, the European mixture easily locked down the map, 16-9.
On Train, Gambit's map pick, mousesports got off to a great start as they won the CT pistol and the following anti-eco. The European squad then countered Gambit's third-round buy, and they kept winning rounds with a very tight defence, earning them a solid bank to work with.
It was only ten rounds into the game that Gambit got a round on the board, thanks to Rustem "mou" Telepov winning a 1v1, but the half would prove to be a one-sided affair as mousesports kept on winning rounds to take a commanding 14-1 lead.
