Misfits have booked their spot in the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals last-four after defeating HellRaisers 2-0 (22-18 on Cobblestone, 16-6 on Overpass).
The second quarter-final of the day kicked off on Cobblestone, Misfits' map pick, with Issa "ISSAA" Murad opening up the action with two frags to help his team secure their CT pistol. The North Americans would take control of proceedings, however, with a 1v2 clutch from David "devoduvek" Dobrosavljevic, which set the team up for a 3-1 lead.
With a successful gun round and an first frag in the subsequent one, Sean "seang@res" Gares' men seemed ready to punish HellRaisers' defense. Still, a double and a triple-kill from Kristjan "fejtZ" Allsaar and ISSAA, respectively, earned HellRaisers the round and marked the beginning of a five-round streak. Nevertheless, Misfits would not back down, and picked up five rounds in a row to take a 9-6 lead.
Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan and co. began the second half by winning the pistol round, and they foll that up with the next two anti-ecos for a 12-6 lead. Despite having their economy reset after winning the first full gun round, HellRaisers quickly bounced back, bringing the deficit to a minimum, 12-13.
Unfortunately for HellRaisers, Misfits managed to get back in the game in the next round, and they followed that up with another round win to equalise the score. A 2v5 clutch from ISSAA and Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz in the following round inspired HellRaisers to take the map to overtime - in which Misfits would prevail in the second set of overtime rounds.
Overpass, HellRaisers' map, started with Misfits securing a quick 4-1 lead on the CT side. Armed with nothing but pistols, HellRaisers won the next round to get a footing in the game, eventually tying up the score at 4-4. Misfits then tightened up their defense, winning six of the remaining seven rounds to secure a 10-5 lead.
Hunter "SicK" Mims opened up the second half with a triple-kill, setting his team up for a 13-5 lead as they also picked up the following anti-ecos. Misfits came close to winning the first gun round with a slow-paced execution, but HellRaisers won the post-plant to find a lifeline. That would be too little, too late, though, as seang@res's squad rallied back immediately, stringing three rounds together to lock down the map and the series.
