FaZe survive nail-biter against mousesports to win ECS Season 4

FaZe have won the ECS Season 4 Finals after defeating mousesports in a three-map thriller.

The grand final kicked off on Nuke, which has been a very strong map for mousesports on LAN. Curiously, though, it was FaZe who drew first blood, winning the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos, but when the game reached the gun rounds it was almost about mousesports great defense as they lost just one round in the remainder of the half and it was because of a great individual action from Finn "karrigan" Andersen, who picked up an ace on a very weak buy for his team.

The second half followed the same pattern of the first as FaZe won the pistol round and the following anti-ecos, only to lose control of the map once mousesports had money to work with. Three rounds straight went to the Terrorists, who were now up 14-7, but they struggled to deal the finishing blow as FaZe tightened up their defence.

mousesports ended up hitting map point off of a 1v2 clutch from Chris "chrisJ" de Jong on a shoddy buy, but they would have to wait until the 30th round to lock down the map, with Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný picking up two kills in a 2v3 situation on the lower site to give his team the lead in the series.

FaZe end the year with a trophy win

mousesports carried their momentum into Inferno and got out to a quick 3-0 lead as Terrorists. FaZe then came close to winning the first gun round of the game, but could not retake the A site as Robin "ropz" Kool and oskar stood their ground with AWPs in a 2v3 post-plant situation.

After getting their economy back on track, FaZe went on a fantastic run, winning seven rounds straight as they gave their opponents very little room to operate. That was when oskar stepped up to the place and delivered some key frags to push mousesports to win the final three rounds of the half and secure a narrow 8-7 lead.

The second half began with FaZe storming through the A site with ease to equalise the score at 8-8, but then mousesports hit back with a successful force-buy gamble thanks to a trio of kills from Miikka "suNny" Kemppi.

What followed was a keenly-contested period of play as neither side could muster a breakthrough, but then mousesports strung three rounds together to cripple FaZe's economy. Instead of ecoing the next round, karrigan's men went on a force-buy - a strategy that paid dividends as they caught mouz's B defenders off-guard.

The momentum was now swinging in FaZe's favour, and they took that chance to get one round away from map point. With the game clearly slipping away from mousesports, suNny pushed banana alone and managed to pull off a triple-kill to put his team back in the game, with the two sides remaining tied after regulation.

The first overtime failed to determine a winner as Håvard "rain" Nygaard delivered a monstrous performance on the CT side to bail his team out of a very tricky situation. The second overtime was a completely different story, however, as FaZe won four rounds straight to take the series to Mirage.

mousesports wasted two match points on Inferno

The decider map saw FaZe jump out to a 3-0 lead once again before losing control of proceedings as soon as mousesports got money in the bank. oskar's men picked up six rounds straight, but then they surprisingly lost an anti-eco round.

FaZe made the most of that opportunity and restored parity at 6-6 off of an ace from Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, but a late resurgence from mousesports earned them a narrow 8-7 lead going into the break.

Now playing as Terrorists, FaZe entered the game brimming with confidence and easily hit the A site in the pistol round, with Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer getting four kills to his name. After the game reached the gun rounds, however, it was suNny's time to shine as he inspired mousesports to take a three-round lead with some great individual plays.

With the situation threatening to spiral out of control, FaZe picked up the pace and won five rounds in a row to reach match point, but then Martin "STYKO" Styk pulled off a quad-kill to stop a B execution and push the game to the final round, in which mousesports would come out on top after finding themselves with a two-man advantage early on thanks to suNny, who was now on 37 frags.

mousesports took the lead in the game after winning two rounds in the first half of overtime, but, just like on Inferno, rain stepped up to the plate when it mattered the most and inspired FaZe to complete another great turnaround in a match that was much closer than many expected.

Yea. I am a fan of Niko I personally love his style. He's aggressive he has amazing aim. He's an amazing fragger. Even Coldzera's an amazing player but I don't like his disciplined passive CS. So yea. Everyone has their own favorite player. For me it's players like Niko, fer. And if you look closely Niko has the potential to go for 4 frags in an impossible situation. Like on overpass against fnatic he was playing at B by the pillar. He just gets 4k. So it's about game style. Maybe you don't like that but I do. I like fer over cold so that's just me. And 40 kills on regulation tells something doesn't it? Niko choked at the previous finals but that happens. Cold choked the whole IEM Oakland. So what? He's still one of the best. I guess that's CS to me my friend.
2017-12-18 08:14
i aggre with you beacuse "Everyone has their own favorite player"
2017-12-18 14:07
Lmao He didn’t choke at the whole tournament Maybe in 1 or 2 maps at group stage he did an ok job But bruh he fucking carried sk against nip and they still lost

Thanks Marcus I appreciate it. And yea he did an "okay" job this whole 2017 with some special performances which we expect more often from him. But he still is the best right?. That's exactly my point. For me the MVP in ESL pro league was TACO but anyway Cold played very well. But that doesn't necessarily mean TACO is better than Cold. So just because Niko choked at ESL finals that too against the still #1 team in the world in the first half doesn't mean he's not the best or he's overrated. Everyone has bad performances. And Niko, Rain and fer are three of the most consistent players in any roster right now. So there's no point of ranting on any particular player, that's exactly my point. I think both Niko and Cold are #1 players in the world with totally different game style that's all. Cold certainly has more experience.
2017-12-18 14:29
I’m saying about the IEM Oakland that u said that he choked Which is a lie

Yea. No one is arguing that SK is the best team and Cold is the best player. But I think. Both Niko and Cold are equally talented. But SK can't be top forever. If teams like Faze solve their problems then maybe the competition would be more interesing. Currently SK is the best. I am excited for 2018 tho. Specially the major in January.

2017-12-18 02:42
SK braindead as usual. Where the fuck is the 1 14 you 3rd worlders talk about all the time anyway? Last bo5 against botzera and his aimware friends niko was 24-19 15-16 13-20 24-27.
2017-12-18 19:17
niko never performs in a grand final, always fails under pressure... His 1° half on mirage against SK last Bo5 he made 1/14 in one of the best maps of FaZe... there is no other reason but failing under pressure

Great final to end the year, honestly I expected Mouz to get 2-0'd, but they put an insane fight. Could've gone either way. On the other hand, FaZe look very shaky atm, either going god mode or doing mistake after mistake. I hope they fix their inconsistencies until the major, so they can do a great showing there. GGWP.
2017-12-18 03:10
GGWP one of the best final on 2017
2017-12-18 03:16
That was a surprisingly excellent final Mousesports played very well and faze had some questionable plays, but fortunately rain was able to have an inspiring performance and drag them to victory, olof on the last map as well
2017-12-18 03:18
This also also the second event niko has under-performed in, so hopefully he can find himself in this break and come back full force for the major
2017-12-18 03:32
I am shocked it was such a struggle for Faze. I mean Navi did not have that much struggle against Mouz. Meanwhile Mouz managed to beat Gambit and Astralis at lan. That's a huge accomplishment.

Wow, so many Faze haters. Truth is that Faze players dont really give a shit about all of your hate. Seems to me like they are all quite down to Earth players whom can manage their mentality. They have declared so many times that they are NOT the worlds best team until they actually is ranked number one - based on statistics.

He had honestly more "questionable" plays at least on third map. His B hold seemed to be quite weak. ChrisJ aswell, you would expect smarter positioning from him, but lets say it was ok afterall. They ended up second, but with asterisk... i dont thing it was that impressive tbh, well see in more stacked tournaments (major).
2017-12-19 14:55
