ESEA adds age restriction to MDL rules
ESEA has added a minimum age requirement of 16 for the MDL Season 27, making many rising talents ineligible to compete in the league.
With registration for ESEA S27 already open, an updated tournament rulebook now mentions that "players under the age of sixteen (16) years old cannot compete in the MDL divisions", either in Europe or in North America.
This new rule impacts many young talents who have been competing in MDL, including eXtatus' David "frozen" Čerňanský, Fragsters' Martin "stavn" Lund, Ghost Academy's Jason "neptune" Tran and SoaR's Ryan "Snakes" Amann.
On Twitter, ESEA Product Manager Brett "Few" Sheffield mentioned that more information about the rule changes for Season 27 will be announced soon and stressed that it will not affect the S26 Global Challenge event, where both neptune and Snakes will be in attendance.
We will have more information on the rule changes for S27 posted shortly, including the minimum age for MDL teams. The rule change does not effect MDL S26 LAN, which starts tomorrow.
