G2 survive Flash scare
Flash had a great start in their first game at the ELEAGUE Major 2018 Main Qualifier, but the Frenchmen managed to claw it back and close out the game 16-11.
Flash, currently ranked #61 in the world, started off the game against G2 by winning the much-needed pistol round as Terrorists on Inferno, and avoiding an anti-eco mishap allowed them to go 3-0 up against the French side. After KunHua "LOVEYY" Bai picked up a quad kill in round three, the Chinese side decided to hit the B site in the full buy, with the same player picking up two big kills that earned them the round.
On the following eco, G2 stacked apartments and got a favorable trade, but Flash still managed to close out the round on B, going up 5-0 shortly. The Frenchmen finally got on the board when Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub locked down A, Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire did the same in the next round and Flash's economy was broken, allowing G2 a chance to stabilize (5-2).
That didn't happen, however, as a sloppy anti-eco which saw Flash claim the round by overwhelming the A site with pistols, and Andrew "Kaze" Khong's 1v1 clutch on B in the next round took away any momentum from the CT side. Flash's AWPer Kaze continued bringing the pain and Flash went 9-2 up before some heroics from Richard "shox" Papillon and NBK- got the favorites to just a three-round deficit before halftime.
Flash claimed the second pistol as well, thanks to YuanZhang "Attacker" Sheng and LOVEYY combining for four kills with a bait setup on arch, going up 11-6, but G2 went for an early Galil-based buy and took their first Terrorist round before Flash could establish their economy. The following round was a bank-breaker and it came down to the wire, but Flash were not able to stop the bombplant on B and G2 started their comeback.
The score was tied 11-11 when bodyy took advantage of trades happening on the other side of the map and walked out of A apps, catching two Flash members off guard to get his side in the lead for the first time.
Attacker and Kaze secured two entries for their side, but couldn't close out the 5v3 as bodyy broke open the A site and G2 closed out the round easily. The deciding match was the following one, where QiFang "Karsa" Su picked up two on G2's fast B offense, but NBK-'s quad was enough to seal the deal and allow the French side ti close out the game 16-11.
