ELEAGUE Major Round 1 match-ups revealed

MIRAA
January 16th, 2018 06:00

The draw for the first Swiss round of ELEAGUE Major Boston has taken place, with the 16 teams having learned the name of their first opponent in the $1 million tournament.

The draw has thrown up an exciting all-CIS clash featuring the current Major champions, Gambit, and their former ingame leader's new team, Natus Vincere, who had to work hard to get out of the qualifying stage.

SK, the No.1 team in the world, will lock horns with Space Soldiers hoping to avoid a repeat of the ESL One Cologne defeat to Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli's side. FaZe will go up against fnatic in one of many clashes between two top 10 teams, the others being Astralis versus mousesports and G2 versus Cloud9.

G2 will face Cloud9 in the first round

Below you can find the full draw for the first round of the New Legends Stage, which kicks off on Friday:

Germany BIG vs. United States Liquid
Poland Virtus.pro vs. Russia Quantum Bellator Fire
Kazakhstan Gambit vs. Ukraine Natus Vincere
Denmark Astralis vs. Europe mousesports
Denmark North vs. Russia Vega Squadron
Brazil SK vs. Turkey Space Soldiers
Sweden fnatic vs. Europe FaZe
United States Cloud9 vs. France G2

The most likely teams to win their matches, however, there always is the possibility of an upset, and I assume Vega has one of the best chances to do so... Besides, if Gambit/Mouse wins, I don't think it'd be considered an upset

How can you say Vp is the most likly to win? They have shown no desire to improve, and if they just try to pull it off on the routine, these youngsters will eat them alive.

I think you misunderstand, I do think they are an easy matchup, and that VP were pretty lucky with their draws the last time aswell. They had Vega in the first match of PGL krakow if im not mistaken, which might be the last time they managed a 16-2 win....
2018-01-16 14:39
So you do agree VP is expected to win first match?

If they don't take home the W, they should consider disbanding before match 2.... Anyway i think they will go either 0-3, 1-3, 2-3 og 3-2. Beyond that is out of reach unless some miracle happens.

Lol they met Fnatic who made the Playoffs, same with Gambit, North and C9. Gambit finished 3-0 (if I'm not mistaken) and played great CS at that time (eventually won the Major). C9 were definitely not a bad team, same with Fnatic who can always make a surprise. The only weak team they met was Vega in the first round. The eventually beat North in the Playoffs 2-0. North are not a weak team. VP are always good at Majors. You're just talking shit with no knowledge whatsoever.

So besides Vega at that time. What other weak team did they face? To make the Playoffs and then go 2-0 vs North is not luck.

Just because a team has the potential to show up, it doesnt suddenly Become a top team. Consistency defines a top team, an none of the teams vp beat had jern good at a consistent level up to the major, maybe except north. They didnt meet a Single top 5 team which must be considered pretty damn lucky

Well, they lost 2-0 to immortals who proved to be morons, and themselves had a really easy road to the finals where they got outshined heavily. And they went 3-2 vs. those teams? They didnt go head to head with 1 top 5 team and still went with their backs at the ropes.

No? their last actual tournament was SL I-league Shanghai where they lost 2-0 v.s renegades and gave a map to FLASH. they fucking sucked that tournament right after they showed promise in Russia, they proved it to be a fluke. :) And since then they have lost repeatedly to tier 2-4 teams, including the polish ones.

Astralis will be on top 4. Gambit can win over navi,. VP its a 50% 50% chance, or will finish in top 4 or will be eliminated very soon.
2018-01-16 10:32
G2 beating c9 would not be an upset Gambit beating navi would not be an upset Vega beating north would not be an upset Big beating liquid could be an upset but knowing how big played in recent events it would not be an upset and i keep going on... Most underdog teams stepped up and needless to sY the fact that the top 8 teams were having more days off and longer holidays than the teams playing the qualifications can play a slight positive or a negative role to try helping some teams win, so things have changed skillwise in past months for the better for some teams, so trying to predict this major might be the hardest...

QBF win with VP? XDDDdDDDd
2018-01-16 07:41
Yes because VP are really dominant right now and have shown they won't lose to lesser teams? Don't be a fanboy, VP could easily lose to QBF with how both teams have played recently.

but QBF only won some tier2-3 teams like AVANGAR and EnVy, Flash=tier10
2018-01-16 08:59
And VP drew against envy, a Russia mix and game agents who are tier 10 and lost against a Belgian mix all in November. VP hasn't shown that they are a strong team right now.

Go watch other majors
2018-01-16 09:57
I've watched every major since 2014, VP did well at majors when VP were playing well, in recent months they have been dog shit and if you think they'll do well based purely off how they've played in majors in the past then you're just wrong. The only measure you should base a team off is their recent results, sure VP have the potential to go deep in this tournament since they have enough talent to do so but they are equally if not moreso likely to crash out without getting a legends spot.

VP doesn't give a fuck about recent results, if u watched every single major, u should already know that, cos they have never been favourites
2018-01-16 10:14
They were favourites in one of the majors of 2014 or 2015, forget which one it was an they lost. It doesn't matter what VP give a fuck about, I really hope you don't bet on matches because with your logic you'll lose a lot of money.

on one hand I hope so, then again I have QBF to go 0-3. Not betting money on that match at least. total shitfest. Some of these teams got so damn lucky in their matchups, shit teams vs shit teams and good teams vs good teams in most of these.
2018-01-16 13:03
The worst part is BIG vs Liquid. Liquid gets in on a lucky 9th spot and gets rewarded with the far worst of all the legend teams. So unfair.
2018-01-16 10:11
Haha BIG worse than VP nice bait.
2018-01-16 10:26
What has BIG shown to be put over VP? Sure I can agree that they both suck, but VP at least has the epicenter final run with a strong final game vs SK, BIG has nothing but some random t2/3 event they didn't even manage to win.
2018-01-16 11:04
That EPICENTER fluke run haha. Nice joke.
2018-01-16 11:22
I don't get you, half of the time you act like a grown up with reasoning skills and half the time you act like a standard hltv kid with immature replies like these. What is up with that?
2018-01-16 11:30
Depends on the person I reply to and my mood.
2018-01-16 11:31
Person can't be applicable here since I have been perfectly nice and mannered in all comments. So moody then... Could you raise a little red flag when you are in the immature mood next time. If I want kid replies I can talk to anyone here :-P
2018-01-16 11:38
Well in VP case. If VP raises everyone else kneels. Its major and its been kind of a pattern before
2018-01-16 11:58
Well if I wouldnt get kid replies like #338 then I wouldnt even be in this kind of mood.
2018-01-16 12:46
How is that a kid reply? BIG is clearly one of the worst legend teams, I understand you are a fan of tabsen and gob b but you must also agree on that? Yes cases can be made for both VP and Gambit being worse but the point was that liquid got in on a "free pass" and gets rewarded with an easy team. I'm sure you also understood that this was the point.
2018-01-16 14:55
Oh sure BIG is trash. The problem is VP are simply worse.
2018-01-16 15:08
But as I said. I'm sure you are smart enough to see that the point I was making is that Liquid was getting of easy which seems unfair since they normally would have been eliminated in the qualifier with 2-3 record. Oh well have a good day sir.

I don't give a fuck, you dumb fucking shit-mannered kebab faggot. Having health issues is usually a character-building event for a normal person, but apparently you're a psychologically disturbed egomaniac who thinks the whole world revolves around him and his garbage shoulder. Otherwise, you wouldn't have reacted like a 5yo old psychopathic child ready to murder small animals after the slightest inconvenience of being given an undesired, yet mild-mannered response to an IDIOTIC question.
