Vega Squadron knock Liquid out of Major

Vega Squadron have made it to the ELEAGUE Major's New Legends Stage fifth round after defeating Liquid 16-12 on Inferno.

The match kicked off with Vega Squadron picking up their Terrorist pistol and the subsequent anti-ecos to secure a 3-0 lead. In the first gun round, Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov and Sergey "keshandr" Nikishin clutched a 2v4 situation to further increase their team's lead, with the 20-year-old following that up with a 1v2 clutch in the subsequent round.

It was only then that the North Americans' defense came to life, with Josh "jdm64" Marzano and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski playing a crucial role in Liquid's four-round streak. Still, the Russians kept pressing on, winning all of the remaining rounds to secure a dominant 11-4 half-time lead, with the last round coming off of an impressive 1v3 clutch from Dmitriy "jR" Chervak

chopper & co. are one victory away from the playoffs

Liquid refused to throw in the towel, however, and started the second half with a flawless B push, setting themselves up for a three-round streak. In the gun round, a triple-kill from Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken in a 2v4 situation helped the North Americans to continue that run, with the Russian side looking helpless.

With the score tied at 11-11, Vega Squadron tightened up their defence, winning five of the next six rounds to lock down the map, 16-12, and progress to the final round of the Swiss stage.

No words for Liquid? They were playing with zews ffs the mentality isn't going to be the same if they were playing with steel. Liquid did a better job than BIG , North, VP and Astralis.

In comparison to what they've already done this major, it's disappointing. Zews did better than 4/5 virtus pro players and, in all honesty, I could actually see him filling in the Liquid roster if he improved his aim. If anything, the players have more experience with Zews and are more likely to listen to his calls than steel's, who they've only been with for a few lans. Yes, Liquid did better than the other teams you listed, but those teams were not even close to as good as they were in the last major.

Liquid performed a lot better than I expected. Zews may lack in firepower, but the team itself was working better than before. That's all on him! I was sad for this matchup, wanted both teams to go through, but in the end my fav to advance won!

Liquid did their best. Dont forget they had a stand in. I.believe liquid with steel could go far in this tournament. Overall this major is the underdog's heaven. Sk with a stand in, liquid with a stand in, 100thieves couldnt attend, astralis are crippled the last 3 months.
2018-01-22 22:37
The amount of shit thrown at Liquid is kind of crazy, the coach factor only goes away when they lose, but he is a hero when they win.
2018-01-22 22:49
good performance for playing with coach
