Cloud9 run over Vega Squadron to qualify for playoffs

Cloud9 have booked their spot in the ELEAGUE Major playoffs following a comprehensive 16-4 victory over Vega Squadron.

The match started with Vega Squadron failing to hold down the A site despite a well-timed split, with Timothy "autimatic" Ta and Jake "Stewie2K" Yip splitting the frags. The North Americans were able to carry their momentum into the gun rounds, and the game quickly turned into a massacre as the Russians simply could not find a way through the rock-solid Cloud9 defence.

Cloud9 got out to a massive 12-0 lead before Vega Squadron could finally get their first round on the board. The CIS representative would not be able to follow it up, however, as the home side hit back immediately, setting themselves up for a massive 14-1 lead.

Cloud9 through to the playoffs

Now playing on the CT side, Vega Squadron kept themselves in the game thanks to three quick kills from Dmitriy "jR" Chervak in the pistol round. The Russian team then picked up both anti-ecos to keep their hopes of a comeback alive, but such dreams would soon be crushed as Cloud9 took control of the game after buying up, winning two rounds in a row to assure themselves of a place in the knockout stages of the Major.

Naw...it's their destiny to get FaZe in Semis. Same with how SK will get G2's side of the bracket and beat them to meet FaZe in the finals. It's all coming into fruition...SK will beat the G2 curse at this major. C9 will lose 1-2 to FaZe.

Gambit made stupid decisions, hobbit was playing shit, dosia good adren good fitch shit, they deserved to lose, fnatic already qualified, either mouz or space soldiers and lets be honest, mouz is the ONLY one of the four who has a really solid chance of going far into the tournament, space soldiers hasnt proven themselves yet in a bo3 and fnatic has an ok chance to do good too

Vega's story deserved a better ending :( But c9 worked hard for this, unlike the previous lineups, this guys are actually hungry for wins, and it shows. WP c9, grats on the legend status
2018-01-23 02:02
Vega goes step by step: they lose 2-3 at ELEAGUE 2017 Offline Quals, then they passed to the next major PGL Krakow 2017 quals, but lose 0-3 in "groups". Now they are easily qualified to the Boston, but lose 2-3. Following this logic, at next major they should be in Legends. They really can do it. And congrats C9, they deserve it

C9 so lucky. Going 0-2 against two real teams, then they rng semi-pro team VP, then Astralis with their worst form to date, and finally a Russian team that relies on having a good day

Let's not forget that everybody thought VP would bounce back at this major and had over a month to prepare. Astralis was a top 4 team that shouldn't have played so terribly, and Vega impressed a lot of people this major. Some people even had Vega going into playoffs.

I'm aware, but my point still stands. Tho I'm mostly salty that a fucking bo1 decides everything instead of having a bo3 for elimination games.

Not too surprised, good job C9! RIP Gambit and Vega, but still showed a few good games, its hard to keep up where everyone can beat each other on any given day, today you win, tomorrow you lose, waaay too much competition, I hope the roster for Gambit and for Vega stay together for a bit longer not jumping to conclusion and changes right away as both teams still have a lot of power.....

If SK Wi this it will e the first major won with a stand in If FaZe win it will be first major won with a international roster. If c9 win (unlikely but) it will be the first major won by an NA team If fnatic win it will be the first team with 5 majors won And there’s NaVi who never won a major and QBF who is really a surprise here. Don’t know what to expect from ss/mouse tho G2 ain’t no surprise here. If they win I won’t be impressed. Guys are playing like gods rn Really this major is breaking records
