Heroic pull off Nuke comeback to eliminate NiP

February 10th, 2018 05:25

Heroic have moved on in the lower bracket following a comeback on the CT side of Nuke against NiP, winning the series 2-1 (Train 16-11, Inferno 7-16, Nuke 16-14).

Heroic started off their pick, Train, with a 5-1 lead with an inner push in the pistol round and trading the first gunrounds to punish NiP's economy. William "draken" Sundin's opening kills then gave the Swedes their second and third round, while an outer execute from the Danish side set the score to 6-3.

Before the half ended, NiP were able to stabilize and grab four out of the remaining six rounds, as draken put up another double kill and Richard "Xizt" Landström chimed in with a triple in separate rounds for a 7-8 half.

The score was soon 10-8 after NiP clinched the second pistol, although Patrick "es3tag" Hansen turned two unfavorable situations around in the first two gunrounds and evened it out at 10 apiece. The next round went the Swedes way, but another clutch by es3tag reset his opponents' economy and Heroic soon won the map 16-11.

Heroic move on in the lower bracket

Heroic once again got off to the better start on Inferno, going up 3-0 after a pistol round win on the CT side, opting for an aggressive push down middle. NiP took over in the first full buys, as after a few slow executes they were up 5-3 on the offense.

Jakob "JUGi" Hansen's two opening kills running around the map gave Heroic their fourth, but the Swedish squad replied with two in a row to go up 7-4. Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer & co. fended off the next two attacks, but a forcebuy and a quick A explosion from halls saw NiP close out the half with a 9-6 lead.

draken's triple in the pistol round, securing NiP a 11-6 scoreline, spelled trouble for Heroic, who were then unable to convert the first buys. Only one round went their way while Xizt's team put up a dominant defense, pushing the series to map three, Nuke.

NiP's first showing in two months ended abruptly

The decider saw Heroic repeat their 3-0 start as on the previous two maps, this time on the Terrorist side, with NiP replying in gunrounds once more to even things out 3-3.

The next four rounds were then decided by 1v2 clutches, with NiP getting away with three of them, two of which by Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and one by drakenThat allowed the defense to finally rack up economy and get away with a great 10-5 half, with just one lower bombsite attack going the way of Heroic.

NiP added a second pistol round on top of it to go up 13-5, in prime position to close out the series, but there was still life left in Heroic who started stringing rounds together one after another following Andreas "MODDII" Fridh's smart 1v2 clutch. It took the Swedes ten rounds to finally break through the defense with an explosive strategy on A, making the score 14-14. Heroic however kept the pressure up and fended off the next two attacks, moving on in the lower bracket following a 16-14, 2-1 victory in the series.

Xizt is not the only problem. If you watched all 3 matches, f0rest and gtr barely had any impact too. F0rest was actually better, had impact. There has to be a reshuffle and full fledged revamp.

I don't get the point in following a team in counter strike, surely you just support the players in it? I'd rather follow a core of a team (like when 3 players from envy moved to G2) than follow just an org who kick all their least performing players (faze) Side note xist is improving a lot recently, especially on full gun rounds.

I follow NiP because I've always loved the organisation and the people in it (both the players and the management). Some part of what you say about following players is true though. Back in 1.6 when NiP and SK shuffled players I actually liked both teams even if I always prefered the team were walle played.
2018-02-11 20:25
You're delusional Barely anyone in HLTV is a fan of any fucking team, we just bet and watch teams play, but not the large percentage of diehard dickriding fans for one team is fucking retarded thank god this doesn't apply to any other esports, and csgo isn't football
2018-02-10 19:43
Why the fuck does it even matter to you people like to support a specific team? It's not "retarded" to support a team at all, as this entire scene IS MADE OF DIFFERENT TEAMS COMPETING AGAINST EACH OTHER. Some people have emotional attachments to specific teams and denigrating them for it is trivial and juvenile

You were basically saying dennis was shit in G2 and had zero good results, I answered you with facts. “.......Same history” Are you fucking serious? Dennis was excellent player in G2 so good that best team at the time fnatic choose him as a 5th player and they went on and won 6 straight tournaments with him. Zeus on the other hand got kicked because he was lowest rated player in the team and wasn’t IGLing anymore because starix take that role from him as a coach and second huge thing was navi had chance to bring biggest CIS talent s1mple into team and they had to make place for him otherwise Faze would get him. If not s1mple I really doubt they would kick zeus so easily because kicking co-owner of org isn’t same as kicking random player out of line-up.

Jugi was never an opportunity in astralis. Yeah Jugi would be the obvious choice. I agree that Jugi would seem to be the perfect fit, however, for a number of reasons, this is unrealistic. Heroic is not ad academy team, and while they might be lower in the pecking order compared to astralis, they have the same management. This is a big advantage in many aspects, but it does close the door for roster moves between the two. The players on heroic would have no trust in their management if they took their best player and put him on another team in under the same management. Dont get me wrong, I would have loved to see Jugi take the next big step, which im sure he will eventually. But for him to join astralis, it has to be part of a major shuffle or swap. I hate to say that being in RFRSH puts a limit on his carer, but that is just the case in the instance. No matter what he wants, or what the astralis players wants, rfrsh wouldnt survive the way they are if they allowed or even encouraged moves like that.

Denmark megz
Well its kinda complex. North is a different beast all together. They are owned by FCK, a danish soccer team with multiple danish championships under their belt. Rfrsh doesnt per say own heoric and astralis. They buy in, and own a portion of the team during a 2-3 year period where they aim to improve the team, after that, its planned that they move on. Now I dont know about astralis, because as I understand it, I might be wrong here, but I think they were formed together with rfrsh. And since the rule about owning multiple teams are coming into effect soon I should think rfrsh and Heroic are gonna part ways soon.

Time to retire, Xizt
2018-02-10 11:04
NiP needs a strong tactician that can also play, xizt has neither of these qualities. Yeah they may pick dennis, but why the fuck do you fuck up your star rifler by making him doing the calling job? I mean, when you're a strat caller, you need to not only play like a regular fragger, but also take into account where your teammates are, where they see their enemies, and make up midround calls accordingly, when your head is busy with stuff like that, you can't fully focus on fragging, even if f0rst turns out being a good caller - he won't keep his fragging power. It's just disappointing, GTR and f0rest should win tournaments, but instead they can't find a fucking strat caller, they even released THREAT - the only mastermind in their team. Seriously - what are they doing???
