FaZe beat Renegades to seal semi-final place

FaZe are through to the last-four stage at StarSeries i-League Season 4 after defeating Renegades on two maps.

The series start on Inferno, FaZe's map pick, but it was Renegades who came out the livelier of the two sides. A 1v2 clutch from Noah "Nifty" Francis in the pistol round but the Australians in the lead, and two key kills from Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad inside the A site in the first gun round allowed them to extend their lead to 5-0.

FaZe then put a double AWP setup to great use as they picked up two rounds in a row, the second thanks to a quad-kill from Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, but Renegades quickly regained control of proceedings, restoring a five-round lead.

Down 2-7, FaZe finally picked up the pace, taking advantage of the fact that Renegades were struggling to apply pressure on the map. With a crushing economic control, the Europeans won the remaining rounds of the half to secure a narrow 8-7 lead.

FaZe came back from the break with added intent and increased their lead with a B execution, with Nikola "NiKo" Kovač getting three more kills under his belt. However, once the game reached the gun rounds it was a completely different story. Any round edged out by the Europeans was quickly countered by Renegades, who brought the scoreline to 13-13.

Then, it took a stroke of luck for FaZe to break Renegades' streak as they planted the bomb just in the nick of time and with Nifty almost killing the player doing the plant. That was the sort of break that FaZe had been looking for, with the Europeans following that up with two more rounds en-route to a 16-13 finish.

FaZe march on to the semi-finals

The next map, Cache, started with Renegades taking the pistol round with a fast A execution thanks to jkaem finding three frags. The Australians then gifted a round that seemed to be in bag as they allowed Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer to overturn a 1v2 situation with the bomb planted.

That clutch marked the beginning of a fantastic run from FaZe, who set up a very tight defence and cruised to an 11-2 lead before Renegades bagged the final two rounds to keep their hopes alive.

Håvard "rain" Nygaard opened up the action in the second half with three quick kills in A, propelling FaZe further into the lead and piling even more pressure on Renegades' players. A triple-kill from NiKo in the first gun round then put FaZe on match point, with the cash-strapped Australians simply helpless to prevent their opponents from locking down the map.

Renegades should've picked Nuke instead of Cache, FaZe has been looking pretty strong on Cache altough it is Renegades' strongest map

I'm a faze fan, been fan of rain and he's team since kinguin because of my bias nationality and lack of a decent norwegian team. Not once have i commented after a faze win, i just raise my fist in the air..on the other hand i have complimated C9's major win over faze. We're not all disgustingly cocky.. But some provide the stample for the rest of us, just like SK fans. And you should watch ishockey, best sport in the world and your country is the undisputed best country at it.

What brings you to this conclusion? Just the fact that I don't believe that c9 can do much against top teams?
2018-02-24 12:31
Also how do you say that c9 will never reach a playoff game again? Just the fact that they are c9? Lmao retarded hltv kids who don't know what they're talking about
2018-02-24 12:32
I made this assumption because they didn't do anything after the major and are not looking in good shape. And you calling me a retarded HLTV kid while attacking me certainly backfires
2018-02-24 12:36
They are in very good shape, and they placed second at summit wtf is wrong with you? They just had an off yournament, happens to everybody. "They haven't don't anything after the major" it's literally been 2 tournaments since the major. Jesus fuck

gg retarded move by RNG to pick Cache. they're the underdogs and yet they pick what has been one of FaZe's best maps the past two months. they would've lost regardless but at least pick a map where you have a chance lul
2018-02-23 15:41
I don't think they would have lost if it went to nuke. I can't recall if FaZe have ever played it on LAN and Rene have shown they can play it.
2018-02-24 00:34
Are you kidding? FaZe would've won on Nuke easily. They've beaten EnVyUs and Mouz on Nuke on LAN with this line-up, two good Nuke teams. Yeah rng can play it but not to the degree that FaZe can

It was a poor veto from Renegades to pick Cache considering its one of the most aim heavy maps in the game. As in, you can still win pretty easily just by outaiming your opponent and executes aren't as important on it as they are on Nuke, which would have been the better choice in hindsight.
2018-02-24 00:39
Don't know what the fuck renegades were thinking picking cache
