ESL AU&NZ Championship S6 set to begin

The sixth edition of the ESL Australia & New Zealand Championship kicks off tomorrow, with eight out of sixteen teams finding their way to the $20,000 AUD (~$15,670) offline finals.

The online league will run for seven weeks from March 7 to April 18, splitting the list into two groups of eight teams. Within their groups, they will face each other in a best-of-two, round-robin format.

At the conclusion of the online regular season, the top four teams from each group will qualify for the LAN Finals in June.

After IEM Katowice, ORDER will compete in the ESL online tournament

Several top teams from the region including Tainted Minds, ORDER, Grayhound and Chiefs are favoured to advance to the offline stage. Below you can find the list of competitors in their respective groups:

The winner will take $8,000 AUD (~$6,210) of the total prize pool. Depending on the format used for the offline finals (single-elimination or double-elimination), the full prize distribution has yet to be officially announced.

The NZ scene has had a disastrous few years and was torn by all the different versions of CS. Eg. 1.6/Source/promod/csgo. It never recovered and our best players jumped ship to play with more talented players from Australia.
