fnatic take down Liquid to secure final spot

fnatic are through to the grand final of IEM Katowice after beating Team Liquid by a 2-0 scoreline.

The second match of the day kicked off on Inferno, Liquid's map pick, where the North Americans got off to a dream start. After losing the pistol round, they rallied back immediately and went on a fantastic run that only ended when they were up 7-1.

That was when fnatic's offence finally came to life, with the Swedish side winning five of the next six rounds to bring the deficit to 6-8 before Keith "NAF" Markovic pulled off a triple-kill inside A to give Liquid a three-round lead going into the second half.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, with the CTs running riot after losing the pistol round. The Swedes kept their defence very tight and gave their opponents very little room to manoeuvre, with the scoreline quickly flashing 14-11 in their favour.

Liquid still sought a response and cut the gap to a solitary round, but an unlikely round win on a very weak buy put fnatic on map point, with a quad-kill from Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson sealing the victory for the Swedes.

fnatic move past Liquid on two maps

Carrying their momentum into the second map, Mirage, fnatic got off to a blazing fast start and cruised to a 6-1 lead. Liquid then scraped a round after overturning a 3vs5 situation, but they could not follow it up as the Swedes responded instantly.

Until the end of the half, any round that Liquid won was quickly countered with a round by fnatic, but still the North Americans had to be happy with the 10-5 scoreline as some of their round wins had been somewhat fortunate.

The second half began at a pulsating pace, with rounds going back and forth as neither side was able to get a grip on the game. But then fnatic ran away with the game, winning five rounds without reply to clinch the opportunity to play the biggest match of the event, two years after winning their last trophy, also at the Spodek Arena.

G2 in 2018: ELEAGUE Major 2018 G2 - Cloud9 0-2 Cloud9 won the whole event. SLTV 4 G2 - mousesports 0-2 mousesports won the whole event. IEM Katowice 2018 G2 - fnatic 1-2 fnatic wins the whole event? It's really possible for fnatic to win this event. G2 are not so bad, right? It's not a shame to lose to the tournament winner.

No they weren't. French CS has never been an undisputed #1. They were #2 behind NiP at the start, and then #2 behind fnatic for a long time, and now no one knows what the hell they are. They've always been very good, and could win tournaments, but they just were never super consistent about it (or when they were, there was always a team above them).

‘insanely good’ They beat G2 and North not really big results... also who cares he is the highest rated player on G2 u cant even say that when every other player is underperforming hltv.org/stats/teams/players/5995/G2?sta.. and Yes for a team for the caliber of G2 and then being branded as the ‘french superteam’ they shouldnt be losing to NiP a team that cant even qualify for the major vs a team that went 6-0 on the major.

Nice to see flusha, jw, krimz and Olof still getting to the great finals in 2018, even when they’re on different teams. Definitely some of the best players of all time. And super nice guys too, don’t know why so many players hate on jw and Flusha especially. Flusha is one of the nicest guys in the scene and just an amazing player to watch
2018-03-03 22:00
yes,the only people that hate flusha are kids dude, you will never see an adult at a LAN telling you: "ho i hate flusha,he is a cheater and he is fat gnagna"

lol? are you seriously asking why they hate on jw? back in the days there was an event where NiP vs fnatic. Fnatic won but NiP requested a restart of the game due to severe technical issues, they did the restart and fnc still won. GTR came to shake hands due to respect Jw and the others refused and talked shit about them. @flusha, he talked shit about gambit b4 they won the major saying that he didn't even need to call as igl to win them and said that they would always bully Gambit in FPL and TeamSpeak.

Ofc there’s always some shit talking from ppl against other teams, the Fnatic guys are not the only ones to do it, so no need to hate on them especially. And 90% of the JW probably don’t even know about this incident, they just hate him because how he looks and that’s just stupid.

Propably not, but he will most likely end up in the top 10 if he can keep his form and if Fnatic score some good placings.

If you think somehow flusha cheated then, but is not cheating now...... LOL this shows how much the scene is broken. All you get are fan-boys riding baby D's forgetting how scummy these players really are for cheating their friends etc.

Like i am cheering for cis team. Nope. I like EU mix teams, because of different play styles from player to player. Here we go-Faze and Mouz.

I'm feeling a 5 map series. Inferno, Cache, Mirage, Overpass, Train. 3:2 to Fnatic.

6 swedes, 1 dane, 1 norwegen in the finals... Nordic country's rule CS:GO :o) Out of Europes best 8 teams (40 awesome players), 31 of them from the Nordics. Says it all. Looking forward to the finals.

Heh flusha kept skyping me relentlessly for like 2 years, for me to update the cheats he used back in the day, which I coded and sold him. Then finally I updated it, sent it to flusha and TADAA. fnatic in the finals.
