Heroic invited to Copenhagen Games

Heroic have received an invite to Copenhagen Games 2018, the event's organisers have announced.

Heroic become the third team confirmed for the event, joining the previously invited duo of North and Quantum Bellator Fire.

Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's side were recently in attendance at IEM Katowice, where they went out in Group B's lower bracket round 2 following a 0-2 defeat to North. Earlier in February, the Danish side had placed fourth at cs_summit 2 - their last event with Patrick "es3tag" Hansen - and 9th-11th at StarSeries i-League Season 4.

Heroic to play in front of Danish fans at the end of this month

The 27-year-old in-game leader expressed his excitement to play in front of their home crowd and to give back to the Danish fan base.

"We’re very excited about the opportunity to participate in this year’s Copenhagen Games," Snappi told Copenhagen Games' website.

"We’re usually travelling to international venues around this time, but this year we have the chance to play in Denmark og hopefully meet some of our many Danish fans. We can feel an every-increasing support from home and that’s something everyone in the team really appreciates.

"It’s going to be great in Copenhagen and we’ll do everything to win the tournament, of course. We’re really close to top ten in the world right now and even though the competition is tough, we always want to climb higher. Most of all, though, we’re just looking forward to playing in front of a massive crowd of Danish CS fans.”

Copenhagen Games 2018 is set to kick off on March 28 and will run through April 1, with an increased prize pool to $100,000 from the previous year's $56,300 thanks to a partnership with television provider Waoo.

There is still one more team to be invited to the event, while the remaining four spots will be decided by a qualifier held on site. The tournament format and prize pool distribution have not yet been revealed, with the announcement expected to come closer to the event date.
