ESL reveals Pro League S7 Finals slot distribution

MIRAA
March 7th, 2018 17:29

The slot allocation for the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals has been finalised, the tournament organisers have revealed.

Europe's qualifying slots have increased by one to seven, while North America will continue to have six representatives at the season finals, despite the fact that its league was reduced to 12 teams following the withdrawals of Misfits and CLG.

As announced earlier in the week, the Asia-Pacific region will have two teams, who will be determined by a regional event that will be held in Sydney. The final spot will go to a region/country that has not yet been revealed by ESL.

Pro League Season 7 will culminate with a 16-team event

The Pro League Season 7 Finals will run from May 14-20 and culminate with a live event at the Verizon Theatre, in Dallas, where the bulk of the season's $1 million prize pool will be at stake.

The event will feature four more teams than the previous editions as ESL plans to use the same format for all of its big CS:GO competitions - 16 teams and a double-elimination group stage leading to the playoffs.

kNg already had his chance on the biggest of stages and he blew it time after time again. I don't know if what you said was a joke or not, but regardless, kNg does not deserve to play on such a stage anymore.

LOL, hes proved himself as a player by far, ur just making something blown out of proportions on hltv into another dimension dude, go outside, speak to people, form your own opinions.
2018-03-09 06:10
1. He threatened another player after a joke. That isn't too bad, but he then proceeded to try to attack that player later on and was held back from doing so. 2. He was out partying the night before a tournament finals. I don't care if he was drinking or not, but what I do care is he was one of the ones that caused the Immortals organization to forfeit the first game of that finals. 3. He was given discipline from inside the team and was told that he was not allowed to play for a period of time. Literally a couple days later he ignored that discipline and played anyways. So he got released. 4. He has never apologized for any of actions and continually blames others for everything that has happened. I believe it is fair to say he had his chance and blew it. I do not need HLTV or anybody else to tell me that much. I don't care if he has talent. To be a professional he needs to act like one. He has proven that he lacks the ability to do even that.
2018-03-09 09:41
totally agree. He's had so many chances to fix his behavior and prove he has the maturity to play on a world stage in the upper echelons of CS. He has continually acted like an irresponsible manchild and proven himself an out-of-control adult to the world time and time again.

I meant winner of the South Africa league would go to mdl finals not pro league finals. But yeah VP getting invited definitely. Call it a "wildcard"
2018-03-07 18:56
probably, this year they're making the first ESL Brazil Premier (basically, a brazilian pro league)
2018-03-07 18:20
Just brazil or South America in general? Cuz they can call it brazil premier but allow like Argentina and others in.
2018-03-07 18:28
at least 3 players have to be playing from Brazil (not necessarilly brazilians), that's why Isurus were in Brazil

Cause they compete in NA... I get your point, but it seems unfair that SA teams can play in NA EPL and still have their own regional EPL... Then again, OpTic is majority EU and Renegades is majority AU... Europe has their EPL and so will Australia/New Zealand now. Maybe with Season 8 teams will have to compete in the region where the majority of their roster is from, but that would suck for teams like SK because if they play in SA from NA, they'll have ridiculous ping and if they move to SA, then playing anything in NA will be much more difficult. It's all quite a big mess...

i don't see any of the GamersClub league teams competing in NA league... you can't just play there, you need an organization to support the team, and brazilian organizations don't do it (except TeamOne now), look at SK on Keyd times, they were getting paid to survive, they had no salaries because SA don't have the opportunity to play in big leagues and th players do sacrifices to get the opportunities, please, do some research

you're the dumb one m8, South America doesn't compete in NA league, that's why it is called NA (North America) if SA teams wanna compete in NA league then they need to move to NA, like SK,Luminosity and Immortals did, its the same thing if a team from Africa moved to EU.

Its just a shame that cis/europe aint privileged. Like in wow america always gets away with it first to have content pay same amount of dollars like we in euros its just a fckin shame. NA and SA aren't the same continent, that's why Brazil will get the last spot for ESL Pro League, because it is actually a continental tournament, with teams from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru ,etc. I'm 1000% against giving spots to CIS specifically, CIS is not a continent so they should always fight for the EU spots like every other European country do, they are not special by any means.

"The final spot will go to a region/country that has not yet been revealed by ESL." Calling it right now: this last spot will go to the winner of Brazil (since it represents an entire continent) and it will be kNg new team, Virtue (kNg, KHTEX, destiny, LuL4 and s1).
2018-03-07 18:43
KNG might not be able to get into US as he had probs with visa at one point...

With the experience these guys got playing abroad, I doubt that.
2018-03-07 22:35
don't be so sure, it could easily go to Yeah, NTC or Isurus if they manage to overcome Virtue's play

NTC is going to USA three months, on the worst case. I think the international experience of Virtue players will be a big factor vs Isurus and Yeah.
2018-03-08 01:42
it is a big factor indeed, but they're not invincibles, with the right reading and decision making both teams can overwhelm Virtue

NA 4 slots EU 9 slots and we got a deal
2018-03-07 19:17
good change for event formats, but its not really sensible for how they are region distributed I was more interested in how they would manage the NA relegation

I don't think it'll be South America for the simple reason that SK and Luminosity are already in the NA Pro league... Obviously there are still good South American teams that aren't in Pro League (Não Tem Como, No Tenemos Nada, Isurus Gaming, Virtue Gaming, etc.) and I believe that to be in NA Pro League you have to live in NA (meaning teams like Team One who don't couldn't be in NA EPL), but one spot doesn't seem like enough for South America... My best guess would honestly be an African league. The only problem I see with that is that the best African team is in NA right now (Bravado). It just seems more logical to me that they would only give a single slot for the smallest of all the scenes (as csgo is only relevant in the northern African countries and South Africa).

ESL Brasil CEO (Leo de Biase) pretty much confirmed it on his twitter: twitter.com/leodebiase/status/9700677217.. " In March we will announce everything that is coming up on @eslbrasil in 2018. So, get ready and train for your favorite game because ESL will show why it is the 'portal for the world' " By "portal for the world" it means ESL Brasil will give spots directly for the world finals, as supposed. ***fresh update of him joking about the TBA spot: twitter.com/leodebiase/status/9714542776..
2018-03-07 19:42
keep in mind that right now qualifiers are beeing played for the first Brazilian Premier, and very powerful teams you mentioned are in there (Virtue and Yeah are already qualified if I'm not wrong)

Fair point. It's definitely possible, just a little weird that SA would only get one slot whilst Asia gets 2... Maybe in upcoming seasons they'll get more and NA will get less but still, if there are a bunch of South American teams playing in NA EPL then it's a little unfair... Anyways, only time will tell and I'm just excited that EPL is expanding it's regions :)
2018-03-08 18:24
it seems weird, yes, but I'm happy too with EPL's expansion

Why is every1 so amazrd by 6 na spots, the best eu teams after the 6 that will attend this tournament wont be that much better than the na teams Eu: astralis, faze, fnatic, mouz, g2, navi and nip or some team. After that most of the teams are pretty mediocre. Na: sk, c9, liquid, renegades, nrg and lg
2018-03-07 21:40
nrg and lg are ultra shite.
2018-03-08 09:42
Havent really seen much from them in the past 3-4 months so im not sure how good/bad they are, well we will find out anyway, my point is lg and nrg arent much worse than the teams that come after the top 8 in europe.
