WESG 2017 World Finals in photos

With the WESG 2017 World Finals behind us after fnatic took the $800,000 first place prize, here is a recap of some of the action that went down last week in Haikou.

The second WESG Finals took place in Haikou last week, with teams such as SK, Envy, BIG, AGO, GODSENT, or Space Soldiers in attendance. It was ultimately fnatic who took it, beating the aforementioned Turkish side in two maps in the grand final, while the Russian mix team formed by Denis "seized" Kostin, Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov, Georgi "WorldEdit" Yaskin, Denis "electronic" Sharipov, and Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov came in third after beating the tournament darkhorse, TeamOne.

To recap some of the action that took place at the Haikou Exhibition & Convention Center in the Hainan province of China, here are some of the most emblematic photographs taken over the weekend. For the full gallery, which hosts several hundred images captured at the tournament in China, head here.

i like WESG, its so nice to see lower tier teams competing with best. Its remind me of WCG. Im tired of watching same teams fighting over and over again.

The WCG was an interesting event, it wasn't about various teams representing a single nation (like with Cloud9 and Swole Patrol for Usa, or ViCi, Tyloo and others for China), but an actual Country vs Country, with usually the best (available) players from each country. I think there should be another WCG with more teams, I'd like to see Ukrained, Russia, Argentina, Belgium, France and other national teams with their best players and not just those available. Like, imagine apEX + KennyS + RpK + Shox + NBK or some other lineup like that, or Flusha + JW + Krimz + Get_right + f0rest or some other similar lineup, that would be sooooo rad.

It’s nice to see team like Team One to pull things off and also the girls’ cs. That was really something for them, maybe the prize is a bit high and you think people were all going after the money. I don’t agree. And there were also sc2 and heartstone. Wesg is motivating those players and communities.
