TACO confirms SK exit
Epitacio "TACO" de Melo has confirmed that he is no longer part of SK Gaming's roster.
In a Twitlonger post, Epitacio "TACO" de Melo wrote that this is "perhaps the hardest decision" of his life and noted that he has decided to close "the final chapter" of what he described as "the most beautiful book" he has written.
The announcement comes just hours after HLTV.org reported that SK's trio of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, Marcelo "coldzera" David and Fernando "fer" Alvarenga are looking to revamp the squad, with Na`Vi's Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Egor "flamie" Vasilyev having been identified as their main targets.
TACO had been part of the team since November 2015, when he was recruited by FalleN's squad together with Lincoln "fnx" Lau after impressing for Games Academy. During his time on Luminosity/SK, he helped the team to win several international tournaments, including two Majors in 2016.
"Some weeks ago I realised I was not happy," TACO wrote. "A few days ago, I decided to find the joy to play that I have not felt in a long time, even if that meant that I had to leave the team that I had helped to become one of the best in the history of the game.
"The jersey is heavy and not everyone can wear it for such a long period. With great pride and no regrets, I wore it for two years and four months. It took a lot of determination, work and dedication.
"During all this time, the external pressure on me was huge, and that is perhaps one of the things that led to this outcome.
"I leave today after leaving my mark and my legacy during these 28 months: 13 trophies, 21 finals and 10 semi-finals. I leave with no regrets, anger or remorse. I leave, but I leave the doors open."
