Belo Horizonte to stage ESL One event with $200,000 prize pool
ESL has announced that it will host an ESL One event in Belo Horizonte in the summer with $200,000 up for grabs.
The event will run from June 13-17 at Estádio Jornalista Felipe Drummond, also known as the Mineirinho Arena, the biggest indoor sporting arena in Brazil, with a capacity of 25,000 spectators.
This will be the first ESL One event with a prize pool lower than $250,000, but that will not stop the tournament from counting towards the $1 million Intel Grand Slam prize. The competition will feature just eight teams, which means that it will not be played in the standardized format that ESL created for its 16-team major tournaments.
ESL One Belo Horizonte will mark the return of big ESL tournaments to Brazil, after São Paulo staged in 2016 the Pro League Season 4 Finals.
More information about the Brazilian event, including tournament format and invite list, will be released in the coming weeks. According to the event's official website, the tournament spots will be split 50/50 between invites and qualifiers.
Tickets to ESL One Belo Horizonte will go on sale on Thursday, with prices ranging from $13 to $84.
