Cloud9 confirm Stewie2K exit
Cloud9 have confirmed that Jake "Stewie2K" Yip is no longer part of their Counter-Strike squad.
The 20-year-old is widely expected to join the SK squad, who made the North American their number one priority after their failed attempt to sign Natus Vincere duo Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Egor "flamie" Vasilyev.
Stewie2K has been on Cloud9's books since January 2016, when he signed for the North American giants after impressing for SKDC and FolloweSports/Splyce. During his time on C9, he helped the team to win the ESL Pro League Season 4 Finals, in São Paulo, and, more recently, ELEAGUE Major Boston, where they beat G2, SK and FaZe en-route to the title.
On Twitter, Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne revealed that the organisation decided to respect Stewie2K's wish to join another team, despite the fact that the player had only recently signed "a multi-year agreement."
HLTV.org reported on Saturday that Cloud9 had engaged in talks with Ninjas in Pyjamas over the transfer of Richard "Xizt" Landström, who is currently benched by the Swedish team. The North American giants have also been credited with an interest in former Liquid member Josh "jdm64" Marzano.
