Copenhagen Games group stage over; North & Heroic top groups

The group stage at Copenhagen Games is now over, as North, Windigo, Heroic, and Imperial advanced to the playoffs.

The round-robin group stage began on Friday after the BYOC qualifier came to a close, and finished earlier today, with four teams making it through to the playoffs in Denmark's capital city.

In Group A, North secured first place when they edged Valiance and Windigo with 2-1 scorelines, while Quantum Bellator Fire finished last following two losses in the same matchups. With Viktor "v1c7oR" Dyankov and Kamen "bubble" Kostadinov at the helm, the Bulgarian side came in second place after defeating Valiance in the last round.

EspiranTo led Imperial to a spot in the semi-finals

One of the main favorites, Heroic, stepped into the tournament on the wrong foot, losing their initial series to Sprout following a debacle on the deciding map, Mirage. However, the Danes then recovered with two 2-0 victories over Imperial and Kinguin to claim a spot in the semi-finals.

The second spot from Group B came down to the last round of matches, in which Sprout and Imperial fought tooth-and-nail, with Rokas "EspiranTo" Milasauskas & co. coming back from a 8-14 deficit on the decider, Train.

The final standings of Copenhagen Games' group stage are:

Group A   Group B
1. Denmark North  3-0    1. Denmark Heroic 2-1
2. Bulgaria Windigo  2-1 2. Europe Imperial  2-1
3. Serbia Valiance  1-2 3. Poland Kinguin 1-2
4. Russia Quantum Bellator Fire  0-3 4. Germany Sprout  1-2

The semi-finals, which will see North take on Imperial and Heroic battle Windigo, will begin shortly.
