HellRaisers beat North 2-0; clinch grand final spot
HellRaisers beat North in two maps after taking the Danes' map pick, Mirage, 16-12, and closed it out on their own, Cobblestone, 16-5.
The upper bracket final pitted the European combine of HellRaisers with the Danish Lions of North. To get there, North beat forZe and GODSENT, with the latter being a particularly good match for the Danes as they were able to take two maps without much of a struggle. On the other side, HellRaisers beat Red Reserve and the tournament dark horse, Fragsters, both by 2-0. While those results did not seem like much at the time, seeing how Fragsters were able to knock both Gambit and Virtus.pro out, it was more of a feat than it initially seemed.
The match kicked off on Mirage, North's pick, but a very strong start from HellRaisers on the Terrorist side gave them an early advantage that they were able to keep throughout the half despite North being able to make it to 5-5 after losing pistols and ecos. Going into the CT side with the lead, HellRaisers didn’t have much of a problem closing out the map, giving up only two gun rounds in the half to close it out 16-12.
The second map started out going the way of HellRaisers despite losing the pistol round and an eco, but European combine was quickly able to set up a sizeable lead in the first half with Özgür "woxic" Eker showing multiple talents with rifles, AWP, and even clutching several rounds. Philip "aizy" Aistrup was able to clutch out a 1vs2 afterplant in the last round, but it was just the fifth round for his team. Having won the pistol round, HellRaisers just had to dot the I’s and cross the T’s, closing it out 16-5.
