ESL have announced all details of the qualifying process for ESL One Cologne, which consists of qualifiers in Europe, North America, and Asia.

Qualifiers across three regions will hand out a total of four spots for the $300,000 tournament, with Europe having been assigned two, while one will go to each of Asia and North America.

Each region will feature a two-step process; a single-elimination open qualifier, from where the finalists will advance to the double-elimination closed qualifier, which will see eight teams compete in Europe and Asia and six teams in North America.

Qualifiers for this year's ESL One Cologne will be held in three regions

Europe and North America will follow the same schedule, with the open qualifiers taking place on May 2-3, followed by the closed part on May 24-25. In Asia, the open stage will run on May 5-6, while the closed stage will be played in two portions, on May 9-11 and 23-25.

The full schedule with links to the respective open qualifiers can be found below:

May 2-3  EU open qualifier
May 24-25   EU closed qualifier (2 spots in Cologne)
May 2-3 NA open qualifier
May 24-25 NA closed qualifier (1 spot)
May 5-6 Asia open qualifier
May 9-25 Asia closed qualifier (1 spot)

ESL One Cologne will return to the LANXESS Arena on July 3-8 with 16 teams taking part in the $300,000 event, five of which have already been revealed.

IEM Sydney & ESL One Cologne are two different organizers (Intel and ESL). The tournaments have different rules regarding the invites, the format etc. so you can't really compare it

Still two different tournaments and both handle the invites differently. So you should not cry about German teams not getting invited to ESL One Cologne...
