OpTic confirm Snappi & JUGi signing

Heroic and OpTic have announced the transfer of Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer and Jakob "JUGi" Hansen to the North American organization for an undisclosed amount, with former North coach Casper "ruggah" Due also joining the squad.

Confirming HLTV.org's report released Tuesday, leaving OpTic's active roster are Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan and Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, who had plied their trade with the organization since February, when the Danish-North American mixture was created.

Coach Chet "ImAPet" Singh, who has been part of the organization since July 2017, has also stepped down to make way for Casper "ruggah" Due, who completes the fully-Danish lineup.

In their announcement, the North American organization stated that they are "actively helping ImAPet, stanislaw, and ShahZaM seek out and secure new opportunities".

Snappi, JUGi, and ruggah join OpTic to create an all-Danish lineup

The trio depart OpTic without having played a single offline tournament. They only took part in qualifiers for DreamHack Masters Marseille and IEM Sydney — placing second and third-fourth, respectively, failing to qualify in both cases — as well as in North America's two prestigious leagues.

Although OpTic have had disappointing results in ECS with three wins from 14 matches, they are currently sitting in third place of ESL Pro League with 35 points from 18 matches.

"I’ve had two great years in Heroic, but I’ve decided to take a chance to develop in a new environment with new goals. I only have positive words for what I’ve experienced with Heroic, the guys around the team and for my teammates. They are a bunch of extremely talented guys and I wish them all the best!" Snappi said in a statement.

"I am now swapping one green shirt with another, though, and I hope to be able to help OpTic meeting the organizations ambitions. It’s a big challenge for everybody, but I will do everything I can to make it happen."

The new lineup of OpTic is the following:

Denmark Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke
Denmark Nicklas "gade" Gade
Denmark René "cajunb" Borg
Denmark Jakob "JUGi" Hansen
Denmark Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer

Denmark Casper "ruggah" Due (coach)

At this point it's unclear whether the new lineup will still be based in the United States full time, or whether they're going to travel back and forth depending on their obligations in ECS and ESL Pro League.

Aizy needs to stop sniffing glue or whatever makes him a zombie player, that guy is out of the whole scene if he doesn't wake up soon
2018-04-25 10:12
Very much indeed, he has never got me impressed, Denmark got talents who could do much better.

Like lulgod says, Aizy is good, but atm he's used very wrong. At the start they could imo start with just removing MSL and then look to remove Aizy, if things doesn't improve over the next 3 months. One thing is clear; the way the things is now is not sustainable, and the backing of North will definitely not accept such poor results for much longer. If that happens, they'll simply just cut there losses and stop their investments in esport.
2018-04-24 19:42
that would be fine most likely
2018-04-24 19:42
Have you even seen aizy play? Have never seen a pro who have so much trouble getting what should be free kills, when he is holding an angle.

You're not backed up by the biggest club in Scandinavia, with a budget of over 170 mio. € and keep not winning anything besides one smaller Dreamhack event for 2 years - or at least get to playoffs on most tournaments.

Well North didn't lose any players to that lineup (other than Cajun and K0nfig that they've already lost). If North could get Karrigan or honestly just some good talent (like Stavn), so they could finally remove MSL, they could become tier 1 again. Valde, Aizy and Kjaerbye have all shown before that they can be good tier 1 players, although it's some time ago for Aizy, but I still believe he can do it, if he'll be used right.
2018-04-24 19:38
aizy became good, mertz uprising talent who is going to show up on 2018-2019,valde is just good, kjaerbye is good sometimes, but often he fckn succ msl is awful only solution that was avaiable -msl +snappi now idk

Oh shit that roster can be good. Really good, but now you have cajunb and jugi on the same roster. I'm assuming jugi will be primary awp, he's significantly better with it which we all know. I don't expect them to be t5, but I hope that this is a cohesive lineup. They got good fragging power, but I still wonder who will be the igl.

I want to see jugi get a crack at the igl role. He's a very dynamic awp and if he can work a system around him and k0nfig's styles then that can be very effective.

Well Snappi & Jugi have been playing together for a long time. Snappi knows just how JUGI loves to play dynamic and will give the space for it. Making Jugi the igl would be too much for him id say
2018-04-24 23:12
Good point on the snappi+jugi bit, but I stil think that it will be an interesting concept to put into action. Most stars such as jugi don't succeed at being igls but we don't know until such an idea is carried through. Snappi can work the igl role

I love this new team to be honestz I'm sad it's not NA but as a fan of optic I can get behind them and I will say I love it. If gade and Cajun don't work out tho I would say plus Niko and valde would be amazing or maybe kjearbye instead of Niko and we could be a top 3 team but right now I settle for this and #TRUSTTHEPROCESS
2018-04-25 02:15
Must really suck being Heroic. Everytime they reach one of the other danish team in skill, they sell their best players and start over.

This. 3 EU and 2 NA players in NA Pro League is still OK (but debatable) in my opinion. But pulling that "kick the 2 NA players 2 months after creating the team" to get 2 more danes is some uber shit. Not surprized unfortunately with the danes, they have been so scummy and arrogant (except Astralis who is classy). They need to go in EU MDL.

According to a Danish news site, jugi and snappi has been sold for roughly 3 million DKK, 400.000€. sport.tv2.dk/2018-04-24-counter-strike-h.. Fair price and a good indication of the money in play in csgo.
2018-04-25 06:29
Will the same thing happen again? The whole "They have to go back to EU to play some qualifier?"

This all started with North screwing astralis to get kjaerbye, and now they have by far the weakest team on paper. Will be interesting to see if we by some miracle can have 3 danish top teams. North will need to break the mental barrier tho...

The last week, and yesterday in particular was really exciting as a danish cs:go fan. The last couple of months has been both great and weird. Great because the kjaerbye move finally made Astralis reach their potential, and weird because North and Optic totally missed the mark. The US/DK optic lineup had me excited, even though I would have preferred another awper. Regarding North, I personally thought they would be back as a top5 contender after the move. But something is clearly not working. Now, I’m not much for the MSL hate train, I think it’s a mix of different things. Mertz lacking experience for one, but I honestly think they have a mental blockade which they must overcome before they will achieve anything. Something needs to happen, an organization with their budget should deliver something, especially when it was formed for the sole purpose of being a top team. Almost at the same time as North signed Kjaerbye, jugi went inactive in Heroic, which until yesterday looked weird. I, for one thought he had a next of kind who was sick, because things seemed to be going well. Now I suspect that North went for Jugi instead of Mertz when building their new team, which might have been the reason for his displeasure with staying in heroic. North would be a huge step for him, and a large check. Now he is back, and the team looks great. It’s the right mix of experienced players, proven talents, and new talent. I honestly think they can work wonders with this lineup. I do however, have a couple of concerns. Both Jugi and k0nfig can win games on their own. Snappi is a great leader and a decent fragger. CajunB has the experience and honestly he is far better with rifles than people give him the credit for. Gade has a lot of talent. I know non Danish fans wont know much about him, but he showed great potential, equal to that of mertz. I think the new Optic lineup is a top contender for sure, the only obstacle is whether or not they will thrive in the states.
2018-04-25 10:34
They will be top 1 na
2018-04-25 18:58

ESL needs to ban them from NA Pro League. You can't pull that shit of having 3 EU (danes) players and 2 NA players (Shahzam and stanislaw) (until this point i'm fine with their team) and then kick the 2 NA players to bring 2 more EU players (danes) and still compete in the NA Pro League. ESL needs to send them to MDL EU.

"At this point it's unclear whether the new lineup will still be based in the United States full time, or whether they're going to travel back and forth depending on their obligations in ECS and ESL Pro League." Good point made... It'll be hard to stay in NA leagues given not a single member of OpTic is apart of the NA anymore. Most likely by obligation and relegation they should participate in EU leagues fron now on, but we never know. Good luck, OpTic. :)
