ESL Pro League North America comes to an end, finalists confirmed

The North American division of ESL Pro League Season 7 has concluded with the top six teams making it to the finals in Dallas.

After two-and-a-half months of action, the seventh ESL Pro League season has now come to an end. The North American division saw twelve teams (two less than the EU division) fighting for six spots at the finals in Dallas, Texas, which is set to take place on May 14-20.

The biggest speculation in season 7 has surrounded SK in regards of whether or not the team would secure a top six spot after lackluster results since the start of 2018. As a result, Epitacio "TACO" de Melo stepped down to join Liquid as Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and co. then linked up with former Cloud9 member and Major champion Jake "Stewie2K" Yip. The addition paid off for SK, who made it into the finals by the skin of their teeth, securing the sixth and final spot with two points over Rogue, who cut their chances short in several series splits in the final week.

FalleN and co. squeeze into Dallas

Finishing in the top spot of the league with 60 points, Liquid clinched their ticket to the finals after OpTic decided to forfeit their remaining two matches due to latency issues, with the all-Danish lineup now in Denmark after recently signing Jakob "JUGi" Hansen and Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer. The decision to forfeit the remaining two games didn’t matter to either party as the Green Wall secured their third-place in the standings for a spot in Dallas.

NRG finished as runner-ups grabbing their final points over Luminosity, securing their fourth finals appearance in a row. Cloud9 grabbed the fourth spot over Renegades due to head-to-head record.

At the bottom of the standings are Complexity and Splyce, who will be fighting for an ESL Pro League Season 8 spot through relegation, while Dignitas are automatically demoted to MDL Season 28.

The final standings of ESL Pro League Season 7 North America are:

1. North America Liquid - spot at Finals
2. United States NRG - spot at Finals
3. Denmark OpTic - spot at Finals
4. United States Cloud9 - spot at Finals
5. Australia Renegades - spot at Finals
6. Brazil SK - spot at Finals
7. United States Rogue
8. Brazil Luminosity
9. Canada Ghost
10. United States Complexity (to play S7 Relegation)
11. United States Splyce (to play S7 Relegation)
12. United States Dignitas (relegated to MDL S28)

Why EU has 7 slots and NA only 6?
2018-04-27 10:18
Essentially EU has 8 slots and NA has 5 OpTic is an EU team

Optic is a NA team. If they want to become a EU team they have to forfeit their spot in NA, and have to grind through MDL and ecs development league in order to get an EU spot.
2018-04-27 12:31
OR they can buy EU spot from another org for a shitton of money

That they can. But as you say.. They need a shitton of money.

Cuz eu>>na Look at na teams not qualified and at eu team then
2018-04-27 10:20
It is tied to the fact that two NA teams dropped out of the league last-minute, meaning NA has 12 competing teams and EU has 14. Therefore there is one LAN slot per competing team in both regions

2018-04-27 12:45
yeah i agree they looked awfull online this season but im still 100% sure they would have get that LAN spot if they played the exact same way in na pro league, btw its fucked up that a full dasnish lineup ( optic) get a free LAN spot yet again because these nonsense rules allow them to play in na pro league

I think esport works like other sports. Money talks. But the only way it can happen, is if they buy another org. And it vill cost them a shit ton of money
2018-04-27 13:23
nah, they'll just pay esl and then they expand the league or find some bizarr reason to throw another team out XD

I think it's really unfair that Stanislaw and shahzam worked really hard with their team to get them qualified to the finals, yet they don't get to play a single match in Dallas. Shahzam would have been playing in front of the home crowd.
2018-04-27 13:05
+1 super upset about how stan and Shah were treated on the team, either way, it's better they leave. Optic can suck all the danes they want
2018-04-28 01:41
They just joined coL so coL could become a really good team again.
