Renegades, FaZe secure first victories at IEM Sydney

Renegades and FaZe defeated Legacy and ORDER, respectively, to secure their first wins at IEM Sydney.

The first match of the event kicked off on Mirage, with Legacy picking up their T pistol on the back of Hugh "stat" Anderson’s triple-kill entry into the B-site. Renegades fired back to secure the following ecos, however, Legacy wasted no time and aggressively racked up five straight in the 6-2 lead.

Renegades finally put a stop to surging offense with a pair of double-kill holds from Justin "jks" Savage and Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad on the A-site, which allowed Noah "Nifty" Francis and co. to win six straight before Legacy got the final round of the 8-7 half.

On the secondary stream, FaZe and ORDER went head-to-head on Inferno. Right from the start, FaZe’s T-side hammered down on the B-bombsite to secure a 3-0 lead before ORDER could contest. Finn "karrigan" Andersen and his men remained in the driving seat to secure five more in the 8-1 lead.

ORDER’s scrappy buy was enough put an end to FaZe’s five-round streak, however, it wasn’t enough to stop FaZe completely, who instantly pressed on to secure four more. ORDER put a nail in the coffin for the CT-side to settle the 3-12 half before switching sides.

ORDER came out red-hot on the T-side of the second half and overwhelmed FaZe on the retake on B to secure the second pistol. However, the Aussies weren’t able to get past the defense of FaZe, who pressed on to win four straight to secure the 16-4 win on Inferno.
