Renegades join StarSeries i-League S5 list

Renegades has been confirmed as a participant at the $300,000 StarSeries i-League Season 5.

Renegades initially fell short of qualifying from the event in Kiev, Ukraine, as they finished second in the North American qualifier to NRG. However, as Cloud9 declined the invitation to the tournament, StarLadder has decided to give that slot to the runners-up of the North American qualifier, Renegades.

Renegades placed 5-8th at StarSeries S4, their debut with jkaem

The Australian side will, therefore, have a busy May, as they are set to attend ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals, which come shortly after their 5-6th placing in Sydney, and will then depart for Ukraine at the end of the month.

Currently, the team list for StarSeries i-League Season 5, which will run on May 28-June 3, looks as follows:

North America Liquid Europe mousesports
United States NRG Europe HellRaisers
Kazakhstan AVANGAR  Sweden GODSENT
Ukraine Natus Vincere
Poland AGO
Sweden NIP Australia Renegades

I dont think atralis would accept an invite. They have just played 2 tournaments and have esl pro league finals soon and they usually only play 1 maybe 2 tournaments a month

There are still 4 invites left

In CIS you get much more just from Na'Vi alone. Even if last 4 will be Astralis, Faze, fnatic and, let's say Cloud9/SK it won't boost ticket sales as much as just that 1 team. I bet it's kinda same for Poland and VP.

True that, I think with the teams attending so far NaVi is the favorites to win starseries s5, which is nice i hope they do, winning in front of a home crowd would be great for them.

After fnatic lost in the quarters of IEM Sydney, Krimz tweeted something like "We will be back in 3,5 weeks" And exactly 3,5 weeks from then was Starseries S5. So I assume that fnatic already accepted an invite.

liquid, mouz, nip and even navi (only bcos of s1mple and electronic) are all top tier teams so I don't know what you're complaining about. not having faze astralis and fnatic is disappointing, but don't act like the first 3 teams I mentioned aren't world-class.

give me reasons as to why you believe this? because im certain most of the community who pays attention to the professional scene would agree with me in saying that they are "top tier" and that they are all world-class.

its a very ludicrous opinion to have when you consider the third best team in the world currently (mouz) to not be world-class.

Its ok. Newfags think any team besides Astralis and FaZe are tier 2. A team looks solid in a couple of tournaments and now kids think its Astralis or FaZe " era "
2018-05-11 14:26
5 replies
1) There's no eras anymore, at least yet. 2) If for you a match like Na`Vi - AVANGAR/GODSENT/AGO/HR is more interesting than Na`Vi - Astralis/FaZe/fnatic - then you should see a psychiatrist asap.

Any CSGO match above tier 3 is exciting for me because I am a fan of the game in general and love to see the T2 and T3 bois get a chance to represent themselves because remember most top teams were T2/3 at one point. Thats like saying playing MM, ESEA, or FaceIt doesn't excite you. I never said there were eras.

> Thats like saying playing MM, ESEA, or FaceIt doesn't excite you. You're able to see a difference between playing a game and watching a game, aren't you? I like to watch good teams playing, thousands of people do, but only few of them watch mm/esea/faceit, because it's not the same.

Typical NA methods: Fail to qualify, still get invited. LUL how is that competitive, Star Series?

cause they got bad timing with their online schedule same with NRG at the belo horizonte quals
2018-05-11 13:34
Thats the method for EU qualifier too so I don't get your " NA method " joke. Also, its still competitive when C9 decline the invite. You act like Renegades didn't work to get to runners up.
