SK, OpTic eliminate Renegades, Space Soldiers from EPL

SK and OpTic have eliminated Renegades and Space Soldiers, respectively, from the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals with 2-0 victories.

Starting out as Counter-Terrorists on their map pick, Cache, SK got off to a 3-0 lead after securing a flawless CT pistol with a triple-kill from Ricardo "boltz" Prass. The Brazilians kept adding to their lead, and with Marcelo "coldzera" David denying Justin "jks" Savage from clutching a 1v3 in the sixth round, forcing Renegades to call for a tactical pause after winning the seventh.

In the ninth round, the Australian side managed to string two rounds together, eventually breaking SK's economy, but Jake "Stewie2K" Yip and co. did not back down and went on to bag an 11-4 half-time lead.

Noah "Nifty" Francis's squad still found a lifeline on the map after picking up the pistol in the second half, but there was little they could do to halt SK, who closed out the map, 16-7, with a 2v4 clutch from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and coldzera.

SK will take on OpTic for a playoffs spot

Just like on the previous map, Mirage began with SK tearing the offence apart after winning their CT pistol – in which FalleN denied Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad from finding an ace.

After building up their economy, Renegades won the sixth round in an A execution, but it did not seem like this was their map pick as SK kept shutting them down to go up 13-2 before switching sides.

In the second half, Renegades finally found a foothold on the map, stringing five rounds together before SK could pick up their first as Terrorists. The Australians eventually hit double-digits, but then coldzera and FalleN pulled off a 2v3 clutch to reach their 15th round, inspiring SK to finish things off two rounds later.

The second Group B Lower Bracket semi-final kicked off on Inferno, Space Soldiers' map pick, but it was OpTic who took over the reins on the CT-side after René "cajunb" Borg followed up a double-kill with a 1v2 clutch in the pistol round.

Space Soldiers looked completely lost as they were only able to win one of the first eight rounds, but then Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli's men started finding breaches on their opponents' defence. Still, OpTic would not concede more than four rounds until half-time.

In the second half, a successful B fake opened up a way for OpTic to hit 14 rounds. The Danes then put the last nail in the coffin with two aggressive strategies.

cajunb had an impressive performance on Inferno with a 2.20 rating

Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's team carried that momentum into their map pick, Nuke, as well as their aggressiveness. Space Soldiers simply could not handle the offense, who switched up a bit of the pace and constantly broke through the defense.

Surprisingly enough, Space Soldiers won their first round of the map with nothing but CZs. That seemed to give some inspiration to the Turks as they followed it up with two more rounds, but, once again, it was all about OpTic until the break.

Even though Space Soldiers then won the second pistol, OpTic immediately countered them to eventually hit match-point. Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş and co. still responded with a fifth tally on the scoreboard, but it would all be over in the next round as OpTic closed the series out 2-0.

Space soldier's unsatisfactory LAN performances are mostly psychological I'm sure, no one can have such contrasting quality of Counter Strike on online and LAN, just abysmal.

Damn renegades gotta be frustrated they didnt take a game off of SK when they are in this form. I doubt it will happen on lan any time soon. They looked really bad without the aussie audience. My boys from optic on the other hand looked absolutely amazing! :)

Ill say it now. They will never be top 5 with Stewie. And that's not his fault, I like Stewie as a player, but it won't work out for them.

The winners of the upper brackets take a spot on semis . The losers of the upper brackets face the winners of the lower bracket in the quarter finals and who wins takes the winners of the upper in semis.

winners of upper brackets go straight to semifinals, while 4 teams from lower brackets go to quarterfinals
