Natus Vincere beat FaZe in two maps; to semi-finals
Natus Vincere beat FaZe in two maps, 16-12 on Mirage and 16-12 on Nuke, to qualify straight to the semi-finals.
The series kicked off on Mirage, FaZe’s pick, but it was Natus Vincere that jumped first out of the gate, winning the pistol round and anti-ecos shredding the Ts apart. The lead didn’t last long, however, as FaZe started winning round after round once their economy stabilized and they had guns to a 4-4 lead. Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko then clutched a 1vs2 on B to get his team back on the lead, but after FaZe brought it back to 5-5 Håvard "rain" Nygaard then got a four-kill round to get the European combine back in the lead.
The half went to FaZe, by the slimmest of margins, but lost the pistol round. Up 10-8, Zeus came in big with three kills to make his team's lead larger. It wasn’t until the seventh round in the half that FaZe could take a round, trailing 13-9 by then. FaZe got three more rounds, spearheaded by rain who ended the map with 30 frags and 90 ADR, but not enough to stop Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev & co. who cruised to a 16-12 first map win.
The first round of Nuke went to Natus Vincere, who exploded on A and deleted FaZe off of the map. Having won the anti-ecos, s1mple & co. were then able to take the first gun round and following anti-eco for a 6-0 lead, while FaZe struggled to build an economy. Finally, FaZe were able to win a 4vs3 afterplant as Finn "karrigan" Andersen took out two and defused while Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács got the last frag. That round started a comeback from the European team, who then went on to win every round completely shutting Natus Vincere down to take the lead into the second half.
The second pistol round also went to Natus Vincere, making it four out of four in the series. After the anti-ecos, which gave Natus Vincere a 10-8 lead, FaZe quickly took the A round on the first gun round to bring it back within one. A solid defense by Egor "flamie" Vasilyev with a double opening kill and s1mple with another double denied FaZe the follow-up and reset the European team. The Ukrainian-Russian side then started to run away with it getting on match point, 15-9. FaZe then strung a couple rounds together, getting it to 12, but Natus Vincere finally closed it out to take the better spot in the playoffs.
