Heroic, Space Soldiers & compLexity invited to DreamHack Open Austin

Heroic, Space Soldiers, and compLexity have all been invited to attend DreamHack Open Austin, the Swedish tournament organizers have revealed.

The trio is joined by OpTic, another invitee, and by Fragsters and Rogue, who earned their spots through the European and North American closed qualifiers, with only two invite slots remaining for the $100,000 tournament set to take place from June 1-3.

Space Soldiers and Heroic will travel to Austin on the back of group stage exits at the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals, with both teams attending the event with stand-ins. It is unclear at this point whether the Turkish side will be able to field Buğra "Calyx" Arkın, who sat out the event in Dallas due to visa issues.

stanislaw and co. finally get to see offline action in Austin

This will be compLexity's first offline competition since recruiting Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan from OpTic last month. The North Americans recently qualified for DreamHack Open Summer and reclaimed a spot in the ESL Pro League spot via the relegation tournament, in Leicester, where the team fielded Alec "Slemmy" White and Andrew "Professor_Chaos" Heintz.

The team list for DreamHack Austin currently looks as follows:

Denmark Fragsters United States Rogue

I love to see heroic, but I don't like then inviting a team without a full roster instead of an existing one. And just stop inviting Space Soldiers to events out site of europe. Its not fair to them or the teams left on the sideline.
2018-05-18 11:54
there's still 2 weeks before the event, maybe rubino can play by then

You are wrong there. Two times this month alone they have been forced to cancel events or play with a standin due to visa issues. Both IEM Sydney where they cancelled and then the current tournament in the states where cyx didnt get his visa is a wasted spot. They might have potential, but its not fair to other teams that they keep getting invited when they cant turn up, whatever the reasons. Visa issues suck, agreed, but there is nothing that wiill change that, especially not being forced to play with a standin and ruin team morale.

Still, its a waste. Dont get me wrong, id love to see SS perform on a top level, but wasting spots when they wont get visas is not the right way about it.

Lets just agree to disagree. Personally I think SS should prioritize European events and ignore the others. It cant be healthy for them as a team to keep getting into these troubles.
