AVANGAR beat VP to reach grand final at ACL
The first map, Mirage, was off to a quick start with AVANGAR winning the pistol round and the following two anti-ecos. Virtus.pro won their first gun round, but lost the followup, with Timur "buster" Tulepov shutting down the Poles with a quad kill.
Two more rounds was all the Poles could manage, though, as the half ended with a comfortable 12-3 lead for AVANGAR.
Their domination continued in the second half, with Dzhami "Jame" Ali and his men winning the pistol round on the terrorist side. From then, it didn't take long for AVANGAR to wrap things up, ending the map 16-3.
Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski became the hero in the first pistol round on Train. The 24-year old survived a post-plant, 1v2 clutch situation with only 3 hp and ended the round with three kills.
Virtus.pro capitalized on the great start, quickly taking control and winning every round until they reached a 7-0 lead. AVANGAR managed only three spread out rounds in total in the first half, which ended with a 12-3 scoreline.
Virtus.pro continued their good form in the second half, winning the pistol round and the next three, ending the map 16-3 and making it 1-1 in the series.
The first pistol round in the decider, Cache, was a nail-biter. Snax found himself alone against four AVANGAR players, killing two before nearly planting the bomb with a few seconds left on the clock. AVANGAR were able to shut him down, though, and won the pistol round as well as the next two anti-ecos.
Virtus.pro won their first gun round, but Jame and his men fired back with two quick rounds to make it 5-3. What followed was a good period from the Poles, who took three in a row, but AVANGAR made it out on top in the first half as they rallied to a 9-6 lead.
After the switch, Virtus.pro won the pistol round and followed up that with four more rounds to take an 11-9 lead. AVANGAR then buckled up and took off, securing seven in a row and reaching match and series point. They nearly sealed the deal in the next round, but a last-second defuse from MICHU prevented it. With plenty of money in the bank from the seven-round streak, though, AVANGAR bought up once again and finally won the map, 16-13.
