AGO, Liquid go 2-0 at StarSeries

AGO and Liquid have moved into the 2-0 pool of teams at the StarSeries i-League Season 5 event after moving past NiP and GODSENT, respectively.

The last main stream match of the day began on Train, NiP's map pick. The Swedish side lost the pistol round and the next anti-ecos, but after buying up they were able to respond, stringing four rounds together to take the lead.

AGO then upped the pace and levelled the score at 4-4 with a fast A split that caught NiP's players off-guard. The Polish team went on another great run, but, as they were about to run away with the lead, Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg made sure to keep his team in the game with a 1v3 clutch. The rest of the half was highly contested, with AGO taking a narrow 8-7 lead after stealing the final round away with just pistols.

Tomasz "phr" Wójcik came up huge and picked up an ace in the pistol round to kick AGO further into the lead. It took NiP several rounds to recover, and, once they finally got a round on the board, there was no follow-up as Dennis "dennis" Edman made a mistake in a 1v1 situation.

AGO were too strong for the Ninjas

Rounds then went back and forth as neither side could string rounds together, but AGO eventually closed out the map following two round wins on shoddy buys, taking the lead in the series as they were about to play on their own map pick.

Carrying their momentum into Mirage, AGO strolled to a 5-0 lead on the Terrorist side to put a considerable amount of pressure on NiP's players. The Swedish team then tightened up their defence, winning three of the next four rounds of the game, but the rest of the half was all about AGO's great executions, with the Poles taking 11 rounds into the second half.

AGO piled more pressure on struggling NiP after taking the pistol round with a 2v3 retake and a defuse covered by a smoke. What followed was a scrappy period of play as rounds went back and forth and neither side could stamp their authority on the game, but AGO eventually took two rounds in a row to seal a convincing 2-0 success.

Meanwhile, Liquid and GODSENT faced off on the secondary stream, with the first map, Inferno, quickly turning into a bloodbath as the North Americans cruised to a 14-1 lead on the CT side.

The Swedish team kept losing all aim duels and struggled to break through the sites, especially B, where Keith "NAF" Markovic was stationed. The Canadian talent ended the first half with 24 kills, just as many as the entire GODSENT squad.

Now playing on the Terrorist side, Liquid picked up the pistol round to hit map point. A quad-kill from Hampus "hampus" Poser still gave GODSENT fans some hope, but it merely delayed the inevitable as the North Americans would quickly close out the map.

Liquid beat GODSENT on three maps

GODSENT came out of the gate on Mirage looking a different side and quickly took control of proceedings, responding to a 1v3 clutch from NAF in the pistol round with a seven-round streak, forcing Nick "nitr0" Cannella to call a tactical pause. Liquid still tried to get back in the game, but, with their round wins being immediately countered by GODSENT, they were limited to just three rounds in the half.

In the second half, Liquid took the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos to keep their hopes alive, but once GODSENT had money in the bank it was all over for the North Americans, who would only be able to get one more round before losing the map.

It all came down to Nuke, where the first half was a really tight affair as it ended with a close 8-7 advantage in Liquid's favour. But after switching to the more-favoured CT side, the North American side ran riot, shutting down any chances of the Europeans stringing rounds together or building up an economy to run out 16-9 victors and continue their winning run in the Ukrainian capital.

I don't think so, NIP is known for keeping underperforming players (like Friberg, he was in NIP for 2 years before they've kicked him, even though he was underperforming all that time)

They've won DH Las Vegas in 2017, and nobody was underperforming there. VP doesn't have a constant underperformer like NIP had. Name checks out.

The guys on NiP still stand out over the VP guys, and don't have sorry polaks who's more sorry than sorry unemployed 30 year olds. flag and mental state and social status checks out
