Na`Vi beat AVANGAR to advance to StarSeries playoffs
Natus Vincere have sealed passage to the StarSeries i-League Season 5 playoffs after defeating AVANGAR on two maps.
The first series of the final round of the Swiss stage kicked off on Mirage, AVANGAR's map pick. The Ukrainian side came out the brighter of the two teams, winning the initial three rounds as Terrorists, but AVANGAR responded with a four-round streak to take the lead in the game.
AVANGAR set up a strong defence, but Natus Vincere kept pressing on and won five of the next six rounds. But after calling a tactical pause, the Kazakhstani team were able to shut down the offensive side twice in a row, bringing the deficit to a solitary round.
AVANGAR won the second pistol and followed that up with both anti-ecos — the second of those thanks to a 1v3 clutch from Timur "buster" Tulepov. Natus Vincere picked up the first gun round and then Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko called a tactical pause, inspiring the team to win two more rounds and go up 11-10.
AVANGAR then equalized the score thanks to an impressive fake strategy, but Natus Vincere replied with a four-round streak to hit map-point. The Kazakhs, trying to turn the map around, still responded with two more rounds to reach their 13th, but it was in vain as Na`Vi put the game to bed.
Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev opened up the action on Inferno, his team's map pick, with a quad-kill to lead Natus Vincere to win their CT pistol. AVANGAR managed to buy in the third round, but they could not find a way through their opponents' defence.
On a shoddy pistol buy, buster found an entry-kill with a Deagle, with Dmitry "dimasick" Matvienko following that up with a crucial double-kill to get AVANGAR on the board. Natus Vincere immediately called a tactical pause in a bid to halt AVANGAR, but the Kazakhstani team would keep racking up rounds.
Natus Vincere nearly got back on the board in the 10th round, but buster denied that with a quad-kill in a 2v5 situation. With their backs against the wall, Na`Vi tightened up their defence and strung four rounds together to bring the deficit to 7-8.
AVANGAR piled more pressure on Natus Vincere after winning the second pistol and an anti-eco. Still, Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and co. responded well with nothing but CZs to counter AVANGAR, and followed that up with four more rounds to take a 12-10 lead.
Aidyn "KrizzeN" Turlybekov and his teammates did not want to throw in the towel and levelled the score with a strong defence. But Natus Vincere would not let the game pick slip away from them, winning four rounds in a row to finish things off.
