NRG to StarSeries i-League Season 5 final over North

NRG have advanced to the grand final at StarSeries i-League Season 5 after beating North 2-1 in the semi-finals (16-5 on Overpass, 13-16 on Mirage, and 16-9 on Inferno).

The first semi-final at StarSeries i-League Season 5 was between North and NRG. The best-of-three game kicked off on Overpass where the T-sided North Americans grabbed the pistol round victory thanks to Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov's two opening kills.

North responded in the first gun round with Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså's triple kill to trail 3-1. The Danes had a 5vs3 advantage in the following round but Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte and CeRq managed to turn it around to extend NRG's lead to 4-1.

NRG are one best-of-three away from the trophy

Throughout the first half North couldn't win any consecutive rounds, leading to a broken CT-side economy. NRG capitalized on this weakness and finished the first half 11-4 ahead.

North started the second half by securing the pistol round but NRG got the better of them in the following round (12-5). Jacob "FugLy" Medina's team got four more rounds to close out the map 16-5.

Mirage started almost perfectly for NRG who won the first three rounds on the CT-side with a single player loss. They also had a 4vs2 advantage in the first gun round but Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's triple kill gave North their first round (3-1).

North finish the tournament in 3-4th place

Damian "daps" Steele & company recouped swiftly and won the next three rounds, making it 6-1. Then North went on their longest streak in the series, winning eight rounds in a row to lead 9-6 at halftime.

Brehze got three entry kills to win the second half pistol round and NRG tied the game at 9-9 after winning two anti-eco rounds. North survived NRG's first gun round push with three players who had less than 30 health points. The Danes went on to close out the map 16-13.

Inferno was the deciding map of the series and it kicked off with NRG on the CT-side. The first half was a close one as the deficit was always two or less rounds. NRG edged the 8-7 first half victory, winning the fifteenth round by running down the time.

Ethan "Ethan" Arnold and FugLy won a 2vs4 in the second half pistol round and the North Americans extended tehir lead to 11-7 after picking up two anti-eco rounds. FugLy's two entry kills were enough for the first gun round victory. NRG stayed composed on the T-side and went on to win the map 16-9, grabbing the 2-1 series victory to advance to the grand final at StarSeries i-League Season 5.

NRG in the final, what a wasted tournament this is. aizy must be really good at pleasing MSL outside the server because inside the server he only pleases his enemies.

I think they just got enough time to bring their online form onto lan, and that how they got into the final. Anyway I don't think they have any chance against Navi or Mous

Also they got quite easy rivals. Maybe except liquid but they don't look strong in Kiev. Also na'vi I motivated to get that trophy.
2018-06-03 15:51
They played better than North and on the last map, North did some stupid strata like stacking 4 players a and one b on inferno. North did not deserve to win. Their calling was shit from msl and Valde and mertz only really stepped up. Kjaerbye was dogshit on the last map, Aizy was afk and MSL was MSL, bad aim for a pro and even bad aim for an IGL. I know IGLs are not inherently good at fragging but even other IGLs can frag more consistently than MSL. Thats how NRG won.

Waste just because the underdog got final spot? This is nice for cs, more competition. So fuck off
2018-06-03 18:18
Underdogs win either when getting lucky or when t1 teams struggle, in both cases it's bad for CS because the overall level drops, you will understand that once you climb down your tree.

North's Overpass was just unwatchable. They literally played like a bunch of DMGs with a nova IGLing them. They have a severe lack of motivation. They just couldn't find frags at all. Something needs to be done now for sure.

Lmao +1 I have seen Mertz before North. I liked his aggressive style of Awp play. Valde is okay. Aizy is kinda washed up and still okayish for a support. And kjaerbye is also Okay for a star player. I think MSL's system is just not working out for them. Idk. But for now I guess you're right lol
2018-06-03 15:03
i think msl is gold 2 because he has a lot of talent in valde and mertz but he does not use it. kjaerbye played better under gla1ve too north should do something if they dont want to constantly burn money to pay a wannabe igl with no fragging capabilities
