Insomnia announces UK Masters CS:GO Open with ~$40,000 prize fund

The UK's biggest gaming festival returns with Insomnia63, featuring the UK Masters CS:GO Open with a prize pool of £30,000 (approximately $40,000).

The massive prize pool increase (from the £7,500 on offer at Insomnia62) highlights the event organisers' commitment to "bringing more to the CS:GO community in the United Kingdom".

The UK Masters will feature two open qualifiers, held on the FACEIT platform, with the top performing teams advancing to a closed stage. The top two sides from this closed qualifier will earn accommodation to the event and £1,000 ($1,340) in travel support.

European teams can sign up for the open qualifiers

Insomnia has yet to announce the tournament format and prize pool distribution for the event, with an update expected "in the coming weeks."

The UK Masters CS:GO Open will take place from August 24-27 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), in Birmingham. Registration for the open qualifiers is already open, with the first qualifier kicking off on June 26.

Teams can sign up for the qualifiers by clicking the links below:

This is the boost that the UK scene needed. Since CSGO the scene has stagnated, there wasn't really anything worth playing for here. Now that the UK Masters has taken over the CSGO side of insomnia, CS will finally be getting the investment that it needs to kick the UK scene into shape.
