Virtus.pro beat Heroic; top Group B at CS:GO Asia Championships
Virtus.pro was off to a 5-1 on the defensive side Mirage, Heroic's map pick, with the team's IGL Filip "NEO" Kubski starting off the game well. Adam "friberg" Friberg's quad kill gave Heroic their second, starting off a three-round streak for the side and making the score 5-4.
Heroic opted for a B fake in the 10th round, but the Poles read it and secured the round confidently, following it up with another one to build a bank. The saved money allowed the Poles to buy through a round loss, and with Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski's hero 1v2 smoke defuse in the last round of the half, Virtus.pro finished the side on a positive note, 9-6.
Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen found a gap in the jungle smoke in the pistol round which he used to pick off two encroaching Virtus.pro members and his team went on to secure the CT pistol. The next two anti-ecos were tough for Heroic and left a mark on their economy, making the next buy rounds crucial for the Scandinavian side. Andreas "MODDII" Fridh and co. would win the next couple of rounds convincingly, with niko's 4K from under balcony giving Heroic their 13th.
That's where issues started for Heroic as Virtus.pro was able to break their seven-round win streak and build some momentum of their own, working picks on A and mid. With Snax shining for his side, the Poles would march on to map point and then shortly close the game, 16-14.
On their own map pick, Cache, Virtus.pro had a furious start to the Terrorist side, quickly running up a 6-1 lead. In the following round, friberg did his best to break the cycle, but his triple on the B bombsite defense still wasn't enough, Virtus.pro got into the site and successfully fought off the retake attempt.
Still on just one round, Heroic went for heavy mid presence in round 11 which paid off early on as they got a two-for-one trade, but Paweł "byali" Bieliński swung it back with a 3K and allowed Virtus.pro to continue their streak.
MODDII denied Snax's 1v3 attempt with a fast AWP flick to get his team their second (11-2), but Michał "MICHU" Müller and NEO combined to strike back instantly, resetting Heroic's economy for the last round of the half. After finishing the CT side 13-2 down, Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel resolved a 2v2 in the pistol to give their team hope. Following a double-eco, Virtus.pro struck back with rifles to reach match point (15-5), but Heroic didn't let them take the win easily, fighting back to 15-10 before Virtus.pro could close out the series.
