FaZe to ESL One Belo Horizonte grand final over Liquid
With Nikola "NiKo" Kovač showing up with a quad kill in round 7 and the Slovakian sniper doing the same in the following round, FaZe advanced their lead to 8-0. The North American side was struggling to break through the defenses and finally managed their first round as Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken grabbed a 4K with the AWP (11-1).
Liquid followed that up with their second, but some back-and-forth action ended up going FaZe's way and saw them finish the half 13-2 up. By adding the second pistol to their name, the European side was already on the brink of closing out the map, but Liquid mustered a force-buy win as Epitacio "TACO" de Melo got two openings with a saved Mac-10. However, it was too little, too late, Finn "karrigan" Andersen got three Scout kills in the next round and closed out Nuke, 16-3.
On Dust2, Liquid started by getting the win on the Terrorist round pistol by breaking into the B site, and winning the anti-ecos saw them equal their round score from Nuke. FaZe struck back with rifles, tieing three together to equalize the score at 3-3 before Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski got his team back into the lead with a fast double-entry.
For a couple of rounds, Nick "nitr0" Cannella's squad opted for fast-paced rounds that were working out perfectly, getting them to a 6-3 lead. FaZe picked up sporadic rounds as CT, but Twistzz once again stood out for his team, pushing Liquid towards a 10-5 T-side finish, who picked up the last round of the half despite a fantastic Deagle double entry by NiKo.
FaZe got back into the game by winning the T pistol and the anti-eco, but fumbled in the third as Keith "NAF" Markovic opened up the round with two USP-S kills. Rounds were traded back and forth after that, with both teams opting for mixed-buys and finding success. NiKo was instrumental on the AWP in round 21, grabbing a 3K, only for Liquid to strike back for a sixth consecutive round traded (13-9).
The Europeans managed to recover once again and tie three rounds together to come to the brink of equalizing the score. FaZe then pulled off a fast B-split and took the lead, but only shortly. Liquid recovered, TACO's 3K with the AWP on B gave Liquid map point and the Brazilian stepped up on the B site defense in the last round as well, helping his team win the map 16-14.
An impressive display with the USP-S from Håvard "rain" Nygaard yielded the Norwegian four kills and the pistol round win to FaZe, who went on to secure a 5-1 lead. Liquid added their second with a flawless A execute and went on to string three together. karrigan's 3K on A stopped that streak, but Liquid were soon back to winning ways, making the score 6-6.
With eco rounds out of the way, FaZe stood strong with the rifles and finished the half 9-6 up, adding onto that with a pistol round win. Liquid had a man advantage going into the B site retake in the first rifle round, but the Europeans fought off the CT's and secured 14 rounds shortly.
The North Americans struck back with their first CT-side round, however, Jorgen "cromen" Robertsen's four frags in the last two rounds were enough for FaZe to close out the game 16-7, and the series 2-1.
