Gambit beat compLexity to advance to DreamHack Summer semi-finals

Gambit have sealed passage to the DreamHack Open Summer semi-finals after defeating Complexity 2-0 (16-14 on Cache and 16-9 on Inferno).

The series kicked off on Gambit's map pick, Cache, with the Kazakhstani squad securing a quick 3-0 lead as Terrorists after Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov and Nikolay "mir" Bityukov clutched a 2v4 situation in the pistol round. However, Complexity responded vigorously, first with double-kills from Rory "dephh" Jackson and Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan, and then with the latter finding a triple-kill to help his team break Gambit's economy.

The North Americans carried that momentum into the following rounds, continuously shutting down Gambit to go up 8-3. Gambit then seemed like they had found a way through the defence, but Complexity still managed to pick up the last round of the half.

Gambit came from half-time with all guns blazing, and their run started with mir denying a 1v2 clutch by ShahZaM. Dosia and co. went on to hit map-point without losing a single round in the half, and, despite Complexity coming back to life and still reaching 14 rounds, Gambit kept their composure to win the map in the 30th round.

Gambit will take on Imperial on Monday

Next up was Complexity's map pick, Inferno. Although Gambit started things out by winning their third pistol of the series, Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor responded with a triple-kill to instantly counter the Kazakhstani side. Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz did not let their foot off the gas after that, stringing together more six rounds to bag a 7-1 lead.

Gambit did not want to throw in the towel and went on a great run that saw them bring the gap to a sole round by half-time.

Complexity then won their first pistol of the clash, but, just like on the previous map, the second half was all about Gambit, who set up a very tight defence and won nine rounds without response to seal a 16-9 success.
