The 32-year-old, who acted as the coach of Selfless in 2016-2017 before a moving to CLG, revealed that he will be standing behind Renegades at their two upcoming events: ESL One Cologne and the Asia Minor.
Announcing the news via a TwitLonger, Ryu also revealed that he was working as an analyst for the team for several months, and with the departure of the team's former coach, Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović, he was given an opportunity to try out as the head coach.
"After Kassad's departure, the management team told me they’d be talking to the players internally and would be interested in trying me out for the head coach position. That trial began this week, as I was able to sit in on a few scrims with the squad.
"Tomorrow morning I will be flying out to the Renegades team house for a few days of practice before attending ESL Cologne, and then the Asia Minor with the team.
"No certainty if this will be a long term/permanent thing, but I’m grateful for the opportunity, eager to get to work, and hope to make the Renegades faithful proud. "
The American will be joining Renegades in their team house before they depart for ESL One Cologne together. Following that event, the Australian side will be going to London to attend the Asia Minor.
Renegades are now:
