With ESL One Cologne around the corner, we have put a viewer's guide together for the $300,000 event that will take place at the LANXESS Arena.

ESL One Cologne will run on July 3-8, at the LANXESS Arena, with sixteen teams fighting for their piece of the $300,000 prize pool and a win counting towards the Intel Grand Slam.

Everything is ready for another tournament in Cologne

The tournament will start with two groups playing a double-elimination bracket before moving on to the best-of-three single elimination playoff which will kick off with the second and third best teams from the group stage playing the quarter-finals before moving onto the semi-finals, where the group winners will be waiting.

ESL One Cologne will see Jorgen "cromen" Robertsen play one more event with FaZe—who could take home the Intel Grand Slam were they to win—, while Martin "STYKO" Styk will be standing in for Cloud9 after being substituted by Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski in mousesports.

The event in Germany will also mark William "draken" Sundin's debut with fnatic, while Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson will be playing his second event in the NiP jersey.

The tournament is slated to start on July 3rd and will have three days of group stage play and three days of playoffs in the arena.

2018-07-01 23:37
Why do I not understand how the tournament group stage is played? One team from each group will win 3-0 by default, but at that point you will have 3 teams on 2 wins, 2 teams 0-2, 2 teams 1-2. Loser's bracket final decides the third entry into the playoffs? But that is kind of unfair to the other teams who went 2-1 but didn't make Winner's final...
