Ghost see off Sharks to move on to ZOTAC Cup Masters Americas final
With FURIA already through to the final after defeating eUnited on Saturday evening, Sharks entered the match with the intent of following in the footsteps of their compatriots and set up an all-Brazilian final, but they were soon given a reality check by Joshua "steel" Nissan's men.
Starting out on the defensive side of Nuke, Ghost took control of proceedings from the get-go and cruised to a 6-0 lead. Sharks then finally got something going, but, with no follow-up on their part, the North Americans ran riot and further cemented their lead.
Sharks had a good chance to get a second round on the board in the 12th round after planting the bomb in a 3v2 situation, but Matthew "WARDELL" Yu pulled off a sensational triple-kill to shock the Brazilians, who would be limited to just two rounds in the half.
Now playing on the CT side, Sharks kept themselves in the game after taking the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos, bringing the deficit to eight rounds. However, once Ghost had money to work with it was all over for the Brazilian side, who could not find their feet again in the game.
Next up was Train, where Sharks took the lead for the first time in the series after responding well to a lost pistol round. After getting their economy back on track, Ghost set up a strong defence, winning seven rounds straight as the Brazilians struggled to find room to operate.
A triple-kill from Jhonatan "jnt" Silva brought Ghost's streak to an end, but steel came up huge in the following round with a 1v3 clutch to restore a five-round lead for his team. The two teams then traded rounds, with the half ending with a 10-5 scoreline in the North Americans' favour.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first, this time with Ghost hitting back after losing the pistol round. The North American side used that momentum to hit 14 rounds, but then surprisingly lost control of the game. With every close situation going their way, Sharks went on a fantastic run and brought the deficit to a sole round, but then Ghost picked up up the pace and won two in a row to put the match to bed.
