CIS Minor to feature just seven teams; PLINK, Monolith with stand-ins

The upcoming CIS Minor will feature just seven teams after FACEIT could not find a replacement for Nemiga in time for the event, HLTV.org has learned.

FACEIT was approached by a number of teams willing to take Nemiga's spot, but, in the end, a replacement could not be found as there was not enough time to secure visa permits.

This means that HellRaisers will go straight into Group A's winners' match, in which they will meet the victor of the event's opening match, between PLINK and pro100.

fejtZ ready to stand in for PLINK

Aleksey "1uke" Zimin's team will be attending the event with a stand-in, boxr's Kristjan "fejtZ" Allsaar, who will be stepping in for Artur "DarkS1DE" Kravchenko. In the other group, former EPG member Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis will fill in for Monolith, replacing Denis "Kas9k" Grishechkin.

Below you can find the line-ups for these two teams:

Kicking off on Tuesday and running until Friday, the CIS Minor will reward the top two sides with spots in the FACEIT Major's New Challenger Stage, in which they will join two other teams from the region, Gambit and Vega Squadron.

NA might have more tier 1/2 teams (Depending on what you call tier 2), but in CIS you have many more upcoming teams, and upcoming teams are what the minors are for

Do you know that everything what's going on in pro-CS is based on sponsors' money? Do you know that all sponsors are interested in maximum audience attention to the event? Do you know that sponsors work on CIS market as well and they request orgs that this area to be involved? So it's not about team level and such things, but a part of business , exactly involving regional markets into marketing coverage.

CIS minor in UK, good idea, Faceit, rly, very good idea!
2018-07-09 13:16
Hey I'm glad we get all the visa issues out of the way now through this system. Still don't get all the complainers. Yes I feel bad for the teams but unfortunately visas can be an issue and this method prevents them from being an issue down the line.

lul visa problems can come later even if they already visited that country once while major is 3 mounth laters after minors this sistem is shit, minors are for the growth of the regions, there shouldnt be any visa issues, minors should be provided in local countries
2018-07-09 16:56
major also in uk, what if u qualify and then problems because it won't be easier, seems worse xd
2018-07-09 13:22
Better than CIS minor in CIS, because FaceIT can check team's visas when they qualify to Major
2018-07-09 13:22
Yes, very good idea so they can sort out early who is not going to get a visa. ;)
2018-07-09 13:27
The thing is they didnt even help the players, they all had to do it on their own. Faceit said they would help, in fact they didnt do shit
2018-07-09 13:31
Just a few days ago I read a news post on here stating FaceIt is currently trying to communicate to the officials to get Nemiga the visas?
2018-07-09 13:36
Nemigas manager or someone from the org said they fully saved the conversation about visas and helping to get ones, so when the time comes it will be revealed :)
2018-07-09 13:40
so its not revealed yet but you still know it? ok
2018-07-09 13:50
nemiga said faceit had to call to visa center, send documents that faceit pays all the expenses etc. Dude when it gets revealed im gonna make a topic there. "so its not revealed yet but you still know it? ok" dont talk shit, think logically if i am from cis and am following cs scene i obv would know whats happening, wouldnt i? Theres a social media called vk.com (like facebook) with the majority of it being russian-speaking people, obv i read statements there from nemigas (not only) players and managers. Nemiga applied for visas twice and got denied

yea they should have qualified and then missed the major instead
2018-07-09 13:51

Yes. You can apply for many reasons, and I do believe you can say you are going to the event. I can't recall if the minors were announced in good time, but as I said the quals could be held in the CIS region. For the main event, you should definitely be able to apply. I've heard someone I know apply for a VISA to Australia for example, much tighter rules than in the UK, and that went fine - just said it was for a vacation. I know they can't say it's a vacation here in the same way, but just pointing out you can get a VISA. Shouldn't be that difficult. I know you can also apply faster if you say it's important, they actually prioritize in some countries if you say it's urgent.
