North slay Giants, Luminosity stun G2 in Valencia

MIRAA

North and Luminosity are off to great starts at DreamHack Open Valencia after dispatching Giants and G2, respectively, on Inferno.

The opening match of the tournament, featuring the Iberian Giants squad and a North side with Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas as a stand-in, began with the Portuguese team taking a 3-0 lead after winning the pistol round with an A execute on the back of a quad kill from Joao "KILLDREAM" Ferreira.

Giants continued to find gaping hopes in the North defence and cruised to a 7-0 lead, much to everyone's surprise. But the game turned once North got their first round on the board. The Danish players starting playing with confidence and every aim duel seemed to be going their way. With the Portuguese side unable to punish North's aggression, Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's men took eight rounds straight to end the half on top.

North fought back from 0-7 down to win the match

Now on the Terrorist side, North destroyed the B site in the pistol round with a fast execution. The Danish team continued to power forward in search for the victory, with Giants only managing to get a round when they were trailing 7-13.

There was no follow-up from Giants, however, so they got immediately reset. With the economy control and just two rounds away from victory, North kept up a high pace en-route to comprehensive victory.

The next match quickly became a scrappy affair as rounds kept going back and forth and neither side seemed able to even win two rounds in a row. With the score tied at 2-2, Luminosity put together a string of rounds after punishing some sloppy play from G2, who surprisingly lost a 4v2 and a 3v2.

Down 2-6, G2 called a tactical pause in a bid to halt Luminosity's momentum and the move immediately paid off as the Frenchmen won their third round of the game with a messy B split thanks to a trio of kills from Richard "shox" Papillon. That was the start of a great run from G2, who won the last five rounds of the half to go up 8-7.

Luminosity pulled off the first upset in Valencia

After switching to the Terrorist side, Luminosity ran all over the G2 defence, winning six rounds right off the bat to put an enormous amount of pressure on the French players.

G2 then finally put their foot down and held back the Brazilians two rounds in a row. It looked like the momentum was now swinging in G2's favour, but Luminosity regained control of proceedings and locked down the map without losing any more rounds.

When your IGL is top fragging in a loss, that usually means the rest of the team still has to learn the system. But, good to see HEN1, LUCAS, and steel putting up some Ws. But I dunno if yeL and Nekiz are ready for this level. If NTC don't worrk out, they need to bring chelo back along with kNg...and fnx needs to become a coach. I think that's a role that he probably doesn't want to do but would actually be good at. He's seen too much and won too much.
2018-07-12 15:16

not bad but then chelo really needs a team. He's too good to stay on a team without kNg. what about +kng + felps ? or +felps + chelo? or +boltz + felps?

I don't think it would be a good deal cuz luminosity already have Hen1 awping
2018-07-12 19:02
kng is a pr liability who 1) slept through a final 2) has had difficulty obtaining visas in the past 3) is not playing well right now. it's not an exaggeration to say that kng is one of the best awpers in the world, but I seriously doubt that any team that intends to compete internationally would sign him. he's shot his career in the foot too many times to get another chance.
2018-07-13 00:00
I think fnx will never be a coach... He doesnt study the game. I dont see he watching a lot of games, creating strats against top teams and etc... He is the owner of ntc,he doesnt need cs anymore

Cayenne's aren't that expensive my guy. You can get them for less than $10k USD. That's less than the monthly salary he got on Luminosity/SK. They're not that great cars. If you told me he was buying a GT3RS, then I'd be like POGGERS.
2018-07-12 16:05
A new cayenne here in brazil is almost 1/2 million reais

He's probably not buying a new one. Even still, a new one is $65000 USD MSRP. For the money he used to be paid on salary, its not a lot of money.
2018-07-12 16:12
A basic new car here, you will pay 40k... The minimum wage is 900....if someone buy a cayenne here, he has alot a money. Truste me

Yes, I understand from a Brazilian perspective its a lot. But he's not making Brazilian money. He's making US levels of money. And buying a brand new Cayenne probably takes up 6 months salary for him, probably less. That's not a lot.
2018-07-12 16:19
But i believe he is making money here in brazil, with his brand... And he is buying this car here in brazil, paying that amount of money... At least, it was what i understood from the storie

Why did they decide to keep the team in Brazil? Are they waiting for SK to buy them?

I dont know why sk didnt annouce them... I am not sure if they will play for sk...
2018-07-12 16:26

When he was at SK, they were making at least 15k a month. And he was making that SK salary for at least a year before they finally brought felps in.

I understand this. From a Brazilian perspective its a lot. But he's making US levels of money. For a new Cayenne it would cost him about 5 or 6 months of salary that he was getting paid in his SK days.
2018-07-12 16:22
Here in Brazil a Cayenne cost like 125-130k.. and the taxes are absurd, like every year he has to pay 10k of taxes + 5-10k of insurance.. things in brazil costss a lot

idk what to say about NTC. they have good players but overall trash team . fnx and kng dont wanna play with twins again tho,so i might go with boltz and maybe trk

felps and boltz might be a good option . i just hope boltz will became good again after leaving/kicked from mibr . same happeend to felps..it was probably to much pressure on them . when boltz was stand in he actually played really good on SK because he could play what role he want and had freedom + he was just a stand in

It wasn't pressure. It was styles. boltz and felps play very aggressive and puggy. mibr play slow and tactical. Go watch felps at the Major again. He would over peek way too often and give up rounds on CT sides for SK. I was there with other SK fans and we were getting annoyed.
