North prevail in Danish derby; advance to DH Valencia final
The first semi-final at DreamHack Open Valencia was between two Danish teams—Fragsters and North. Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's team had a flying start on the T-side on Train as they grabbed the pistol round and first weapon round victories. Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså's quad kill during a 2vs4 made it 6-0.
Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas & company won 3vs5s in the seventh and nine rounds to keep their streak alive. Fragsters finally got on the scoreboard in the 13th round but they lost a 3vs1 to valde in the following round.
After North finished the first half with a 13-2 lead, Fragsters opened the door for a possible comeback by winning the first four rounds in the second half but North closed off the map 16-7, taking the 1-0 lead in the series.
The game continued on Nuke where the T-sided North secured the first five rounds. Fragsters found their footing after a while and took the lead with Martin "stavn" Lund's 1vs3 clutch. Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye returned the favor in the following round as he clutched a 1vs3 to tie the game at 7-7 and North went on to win the half 8-7.
A triple kill by stavn sealed the second half pistol round for Fragsters who led 10-8 following two anti-eco round wins. North picked up the first weapon round with two critical kills by MSL and dominated on the CT-side to win the map 16-10 and the series 2-0. With this result, North have advanced to the grand final at DreamHack Open Valencia 2018.
