Liquid move past Na`Vi; to ELEAGUE grand final

In two maps, Liquid defeated Natus Vincere (16-13 Dust2, 16-9 Overpass) and secured a spot in the ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2018 grand final.

The second semi started on Dust2, Liquid's map pick. The North Americans bounced back from a pistol round loss thanks to Nick "nitr0" Cannella's Scout triple, and they were looking to advance the lead even further when Natus Vincere shut down a B-split with a pistol-buy stack.

Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev then got the AWP in his hands and secured a quad-kill in round six, getting things rolling for the CIS side. However, the back-and-forth continued, Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko's 2K from CT spawn was key to Natus Vincere winning their fifth, but Liquid replied with a fast short push on a force-buy, which finally broke Natus Vincere's momentum. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and co. did a similar strat in the following full-buy, catching their opponents in a transition from long to finish the half 10-5 up.

Keith "NAF" Markovic denied Denis "electronic" Sharipov's 1v3 attempt in the pistol, however, Natus Vincere went for a full investment in round two and AK-47's on Egor "flamie" Vasilyev and s1mple did work, giving them the round and getting them back into the game. Zeus then called a couple of B-hits, that worked out perfectly, giving Natus Vincere the lead, 13-12. Just when things started looking grim for Liquid, the North Americans squeezed out four tight rounds back-to-back and claimed their map pick 16-13.

NAF was a standout player for Liquid

Natus Vincere grabbed a 3-0 start on Overpass to bounce back from the map 1 loss, but Liquid would put up lockdown defenses on A and B in the next two rounds to establish themselves on the CT side. Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev and co. broke into the B site do add their first full buy to the board, but that was all they managed for a while, as NAF and Epitacio "TACO" de Melo excelled for their team and got them to a 7-4 lead.

Liquid went up 9-4 after they managed to delay Natus Vincere enough to deny the bombplant, however, off the back of flamie's four kills, Natus Vincere claimed the last two rounds and finished the half with a reasonable 9-6 scoreline. Two more were added to the board by Natus Vincere, starting with the pistol, but a blunder in the second anti-eco saw Liquid take back control of the game (12-8).

Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken then plowed through Natus Vincere's defenses, securing the ace, which his team followed up on to take the 14-8 lead. s1mple's team mustered a round after that, but a crazy 4K from TACO turned a 2v5 round on its head, setting up Liquid for a 16-9 win.

Well ppl say ez game looking at past series. Map pool is heavily favoured towards astralis since they raped TL in Dust2 both times in previous finals and they must ban Nuke otherwise it's gg already. I hope it's a close final tbh Liquid has a bigger chance in Bo3 than Bo5 but If cant see this going their way. Have a nice day sir!

Sometimes I think the problem with Astralis is that they are so unbelievably good as a team (IMO, the best team team ever in terms of teamplay), that their individualities get hindered. Still, there's always one Astralis player that does a little bit better than everyone else.

Liquid is starting to look really really good. Elige didn't even really show up in this match and he's their best player. Was the NAF/Twistzz and Nitro show today. I think that if they can get those four going and Taco doing his support thing they might have a chance to finally beat Astralis in a final. I know this team isn't the type to fuck around and not learn from past losses so you know they have the info on them. THey've just got to put it together and all show up. Team is starting to look scary. Late 2017 C9ish in a lot of ways but with better utility usage.

Liquid actually look good again. Those last tournaments where they played really separated and overly cocky showed how little they'd prepared. That sounds harsh but you could tell they hadn't put in the time. Glad to see them really looking like a unit again. Astralis look terrifying though, they were so well composed against mouz today it was amazing really. Good luck to both teams tomorrow. Liquid winning a big event final would be unreal.

Mibr overrated? Coldzera fer and fallen have 2 majors, stewie and tarik 1. What about navi?
2018-07-29 19:51
Yes really overrated, and if we talk about majors pronax > s1mple?
2018-07-29 19:52
We are not talking player based. We are talking team based and each player on that team at least has 1 major. For example, fnatic have 3 majors but nip have only one. So yeah, fnatic is a better team than nip
2018-07-29 21:15
Oh yes and by your logic we can say fnatic is the best team in the world?

that was a great game to watch, s1mple missed too many shots, i think that's the key of this match.
2018-07-29 08:03
where are edward defenders ? scrubs you can't win big tournaments with him ..they already have to carry zeus low skill then add to that edward and now even flamie underperforming
2018-07-29 08:13
They just won a big tournament before this
2018-07-29 09:01

2018-07-29 09:02
1 big tourney :) navi will never be a dominant team with dead weight ..all players have to contribute in a more stable way. In this tournament s1mple was okeish and didn't carry the team 1vs5 and the result is here.

What the fuck did you say? [2018] Navi's results at all tournaments in which they participated ° ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 (3-4 place ) ° StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 (2 place ) ° DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018 (2 place ) ° ESL Pro League Season 7 - Finals (3-4 place) ° StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 5 (1 place ) ° CS:GO Asia Championships 2018 ( 1 place) ° ESL One: Cologne 2018 (1 place ). ° ELEAGUE premier 2018 (3 - 4 place) Bad results??????????? For comparison, I took the results of the best team [2018] Astralis results at all tournaments in which they participated. ° ELEAGUE Major 2018 Boston (12 - 14 place) ° StarSeries i-League Season 4 (5 - 8 place) ° IEM Katowice 2018 (3 - 4 place) ° DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018 (1 place) ° IEM Sydney 2018 (2 place) ° ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals (1 place) ° ECS Season 5 Finals (1 place) ° ESL One Cologne 2018 (3 - 4 place) No doubt Astralys is a cool team! Cool results, but in Navi are not worse. So, you're wrong man) Navi - strong team in 2018

Even though Liquid won, they played sloppily and often looked lost, undecided and disorganized. This is the worst semifinals I've seen in a long time. No finesse, no cool tactics, very few crazy shots and a gazillion of mistakes. There's no chance against Astralis.
