TyLoo to IEM Shanghai final over Virtus.pro
Virtus.pro kicked the first semi-final in Shanghai off with a pistol win on Train after an aggressive play on the A site through Main and Ivy. Putting up a solid defense on A, TYLOO were able to stop the Polish side’s attack and get on the board for the first time. WIth a big triple with the AWP on Popdog, Kevin "xccurate" Susanto managed to turn the tide of the next round in his team’s favor, making it 2-3, and a 1vs2 afterplant clutch on A by HaoWen "somebody" Xu against a pistol buy then evened the score out.
TYLOO took the lead momentarily, but Virtus.pro then turned on the heat winning four rounds in a row to get to 7-4, but a great 1vs2 clutch, once again by somebody, kept TYLOO close. A quick triple y Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand defending on B brought the match back to within one and the Chinese-Indonesian team then went on to win the side, 8-7.
Virtus.pro cleanly retook B on he defense in the second pistol, but a 10-second defuse blunder saw the bomb explode giving TYLOO the first round of the second half. Virtus.pro were then able to win the first gun round making a 3vs5 retake on B work to not let the score get too wide, making it 11-8 for the Chinese team. The following round saw somebody and Paweł "byali" Bieliński in a 1vs1 afterplant, but a mistake by the Pole giving away his position after the bomb went down allowed his foe to hide and let the bomb counter go all the way down to give his team the round.
The Chinese team took control mid-way through the half, making it all the way to 14, but Virtus.pro found a way back into the game, winning two in a row to make it 14-12 and forcing TYLOO on a pistol buy. The match ended 15-15 after 30 rounds as Virtus.pro made a last-ditch effort, taking it into overtime. After 12 rounds it was finally TYLOO who came out on top as xccurate won a 1vs2 afterplant on the attacking side with two AWP kills to give his team the lead after map one.
Inferno kicked off with Virtus.pro winning the pistol round on the CT side but an absolutely insane three kill round by BnTeT including a 1vs2 clutch with deagle headshot through the smoke on byali defusing the bomb brought it back even. TYLOO were able to follow it up, although Virtus.pro got back on their feet winning four in a row for a 5-2 lead, but a forcebuy play on A by TYLOO took the Poles by surprise to keep the game close early on.
Finally, though, it was Virtus.pro who took the reins taking an 8-3 lead before giving one up before taking the next round from the Terrorists despite having an early player disadvantage in the round, going up 9-4. The two teams then traded rounds closing the half 10-5 before the switch.
Two glock kills by Michał "MICHU" Müller running from mid to A cleared the path for Virtus.pro to take the first round of the second half. Up 13-5 it looked like Virtus.pro would be able to close it out without issue but TYLOO started to win rounds and build an economy to start the grind towards a comeback bringing it to 13-9. An A strike by the Poles finally worked and with byali getting two frags in the afterplant he closed out the round for his team. Having followed it up, Virtus.pro made it to match point and with their enemies struggling to put together a buy were able to take the map and push it to the decider.
TYLOO started Cache with the upper hand, winning the pistol round on the offensive, but losing against the forcebuy, eventually giving the Poles a 3-1 advantage. The teams then traded rounds, ending up in Virtus.pro leading 5-3 going into a gun round with both teams struggling economically. With 6-5 on the board, Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski got three kills in a 1vs4 defending the B site, but it was finally BnTeT who was able to get the last frag to bring it back to a tie.
Finally, it was TYLOO were able to win the half, although just barely, making it 8-7 at the switch. A triple by xccurate on the A site retake gave TYLOO the pistol round. Once again, though, Virtus.pro played the forcebuy right and won the round, taking over the A site and defending the bomb. With the score 10-10 the match could still go either way although it was Virtus.pro who found cracks in the wall to take a 13-10 lead before TYLOO could respond. When they responded, though, they did so bringing it back to 13-13 and forcing Virtus.pro to go on a pistol upgrade.
TYLOO then took the lead, 14-13, after bashing the Polish team who were trying to make a quick play towards the B bomb site. A 1vs2 clutch by Piotr "morelz" Taterka on A brought the match back even, but MICHU was then unable to win another 1vs2 after a fast B play by Virtus.pro as BnTeT defused the bomb and made it 15-14 for the Chinese-Indonesian side. Once again, the match went into overtime as Virtus.pro won the thirtieth round on Cache. After a hard-fought first overtime, the second overtime went the way of TYLOO quite one-sidedly as they were able to win all of the rounds on the Terrorist side before going on to close it down on the first round of the second half, 22-18, for a spot in the finals.
