NRG sweep Gambit; move on to grand final

August 5th, 2018 07:57

NRG defeat Gambit 2-0 (16-8 on Train and 16-3 on Overpass) and will face TYLOO in the IEM Shanghai 2018 final.

The semi-final kicked off on Gambit's map pick, Train, where the T-side quickly planted on B, but a swift triple-kill retake from Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov secured the pistol for NRG. A quad-kill from Jacob "FugLy" Medina in the following round made it 2-0, but Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev's triple-entry on A pulled the deficit back, winning Gambit's first of the half.

The Kazakh-Russian side then picked up their second, but NRG kept their defenses tight, locking down five in a row on the CT-side, before Gambit finally snapped the streak, making it 3-7. Gambit then began to spread the NRG defense thin, winning three of the next five rounds, before NRG settled the half with a 9-6 score at halftime.

The second half saw NRG come out of the gates red-hot securing the T pistol and marching on to win the following anti-ecos. It wasn't until a lopsided round that granted Gambit their first in the second half. However, Gambits' defense played rather loose in the following round, which allowed NRG to pounce, winning four straight to secure the 16-8 map victory.

NRG pave the way to IEM Shanghai grand final

The series then moved on to Overpass, NRG's pick, where the Kazakh-Russian side nearly secured the CT pistol, but without kits, the round went to NRG. The North American side went on to secure the following anti-ecos, but a firm hold from Gambit granted their first of the half.

NRG got back in the thick of things, with FugLy's triple-kill to earn their fourth of the half, which then led the T-side to rack up eight in a row for an 11-1 lead. It wasn't until the 13th round when Gambit were able to secure their second of the half, but in the end, NRG made it a 12-3 half in their favor.

In the second half, Ethan "nahtE" Arnold held the line on A with a quad-kill to secure the CT pistol, before FugLy came up with a quad-kill of his own in the following anti-eco to make it 14-3. NRG went on to reach match point, where they eventually went on to secure the 16-3 victory and the 2-0 series to book their spot in the grand final.

gamBOT disband already. I'm sure even B1ad3 will not save you, even in 2 months.
2018-08-05 09:13
-Dosia +B1ad3 as player and IGL could help, but B1ad3 as coach won't change much IMHO.
2018-08-05 09:22
I think nothing can save them.
2018-08-05 09:37
They need proper IGL, the problem isn't in the players (although they were stupid enough to kick Zeus, lul).
2018-08-05 09:42
man for expl you have a quarrel with caoch? what you need to do ? with conflict that`s why they need to kick
2018-08-05 09:44
Then enjoy bot team now.
2018-08-05 09:47
now ? why you talking about zeus and now
2018-08-05 09:52
probably cuz without Zeus they are trash tier5 struggling piece of dipshit?
2018-08-05 09:54
you think with zeus they was tier1 ? no everybody hated before krakow as a nowadays

Haters still think that Zeus wasn't the key of gambit's success. Ok then, keep thinking that way, but the team gonna die completely and will be never able to win even a shit t3 tournament like that.
2018-08-05 09:45
Zeus is shit igl
2018-08-05 09:54

2018-08-05 10:02
+1 history already proved everything
2018-08-05 09:55
He wasn't the main thing that made Gambit win pgl major. He was one of the factors for sure but they achieved what they achieved thanks to the games of their lives from each player of the team(for example mou vs Astralis, he just decimated them on overpass). Sadly, the only player that can play like he played there in Krakow is Hobbit
2018-08-05 11:31
we see now how without that "not main thing" they suck balls at everything and against ANY team even against tier20 Asia.

Gambit dont care. They have a plans for the major qual. They cant show it all the major is to big for them nok to Qual to. This is why CS:GO is slowly dying. Its to many tournaments. If people watch the numbers of viewers in CS:GO its not looking good. The system is wrong now. Its wrong to have a Major Qual in London with Astralis, VP, Gambit, TyLoo, Liquid, Optic, North and so on. This could be a major? Its to mutch CS:GO events. Im not sitting and waiting for majors anymore. To many tournaments have the same prize pool and the same teams.
