jmqa: "After the last Major, our practice wasn't great, we didn't have good conditions"
Winstrike, formerly known as Quantum Bellator Fire, was the surprise of the ELEAGUE Boston Major as they managed to reach a top-eight placing and secure Legends status.
Coming to the FACEIT London Major, Winstrike is ranked 46th, and don't have any good recent international LAN placings. In a chat with jmqa, we heard about some of the issues the team had and how joining a new organization helped them resolve it.
You played a couple of LAN events as Winstrike starting with Moche XL in Portugal, then you had ZOTAC Cup Masters Europe, then two CIS events. Going over all of that, what did you think about the results you had at those LANs?
After the last Major in Boston our practice wasn't great, we didn't have good conditions to prepare for those LANs because our PCs weren't good, we didn't have bootcamps, but Winstrike helped us with all of that when we joined them. Our bootcamp was about two months long so we could now really prepare for tournaments.
When did you have the two-month bootcamp?
It was split in two bootcamps, the first one started at the beginning of June and lasted until July. Then we had two weeks of vacation and then we went to a bootcamp again, before the Major, for two or three weeks.
Was getting a new organization something you really needed to make the next step, to actually play full time? Was that an issue before?
No, it wasn't about playing full time, it was more that we were thinking about our problems outside of the game while we were playing, so we couldn't play as much and as well as we wanted to.
With all that settled with Winstrike now, how does the team feel playing, in general? How are you developing as a team?
We trained a lot, a lot of things, a lot of new things. Now, we are feeling more confident than before.
People see you as massive underdogs here, again, they feel like you don't deserve the spot. What are your thoughts on that?
It is fine for us, it gives us more motivation to show everyone that we can compete with the tier one teams. So we will try our best.
Talking about the team, looking at the stats, Boombl4 is still the main star for this squad. Is that how you are set-up as a team?
Yeah, he is playing very well. In our team, Kvik and Boombl4 are the main carry players. They are doing a lot of damage in the game. Me and balblna are support players maybe, I'm playing as the main B player, and waterfaLLz is the AWP and IGL.
You drew against Liquid in the first game, a tough opponent, but what are your thoughts on the group stage here and what you can do?
When we were watching the draw, we knew that we could have teams like Astralis, Liquid, compLexity and NiP. So we really didn't want to play against NiP because they are are in good form right now. We played a few practice matches against Liquid so they are a fine opponent for us, maybe we will have more confidence because we played praccs against them and it went really well.
Any shoutouts to add to close it off?
I just want to say thanks to our fans that are supporting us, hello to my family, to my mother, and of course thanks to our new organization Winstrike, they are helping us a lot. That's all.
