Ryu steps down from Renegades

September 25th, 2018 00:58

Steve "Ryu" Rattacasa is no longer the coach of Renegades, the North American has announced on Social Media.

In a Twitlonger post, the 32-year-old did not wish to disclose the reason for his departure, stating that he wants Renegades to dictate the terms of the announcements about the future of the team.

Formerly of Selfless and CLG, Ryu joined Renegades in June as a trial replacement for Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović and attended three events with the team, including the FACEIT Major.

Ryu departs Renegades

The Australian side cut a frustrating figure in London and were eliminated in the fourth round of the New Challengers Stage by Asian rival TYLOO after barely beating a Space Soldiers side with coach Canpolat "hardstyle" Yıldıran acting as a stand-in.

"I want to say thank you to the boys for allowing me to come in and coach them over the past few months," Ryu wrote. "It was a fun, challenging adventure and I wish you all nothing but the best.

"To the fans, I wish we could have delivered better results, and know that the boys were and are capable of great things, individually and together. Keep showing them the love.

"As for my future, I am undecided as to what my pursuits will be—I have a few things in mind and a few are already in the works, but nothing that’s official at this time. "

Renegades are yet to make an announcement on the future of their team, who will return to action on October 2 in their opening match in ESL Pro League Season 8, against eUnited.

Renegades are now:

Australia Aaron "AZR" Ward
Australia Justin "jks" Savage
Australia Karlo "USTILO" Pivac
United States Noah "Nifty" Francis
Norway Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad

What happened to Norway CS? End of 2016 Rubino, Jkaem, and Rain were all on top 5 teams in the world. Sure Rain is still on a top team, but Rubino is who knows where, and Jkaem is stuck in this shitty Australian team that will never amount to anything :/
2018-09-25 01:50
Rain has really regressed from his 2017 level tbh

He left to go to Valiance. I don't know the details or anything, I suppose his contract expired and he preferred to coach a Serbian team or just wanted to take on a new project. He hinted towards that when he left and shortly after he signed with Valiance.

Ryu is one of the big reasons for why the NA scene is what it is RNG is falling apart with or without him
2018-09-25 01:22
The only notable thing I remember him doing was building a team around koosta back in NME and Selfless (who then left and did shit without a team built around him).

More changes need to be made, Kick Ustilo for Liazz, Ez 3 man Australian core and get Inmi as coach, If after then they aren’t top 10 or at least fighting for it I would get someone else to igl other than Nifty

Yes his stats are padded a lot because of bad opponents but he’s still very good and should replace Ustilo, The very few times he’s played on LAN against good international teams he’s done well hltv.org/matches/2322414/order-vs-cloud9..

i don't even know what to say, these NN teams always outperform what they're expected, especially at a LAN on their home turf. being in the t1 scene is completely different thing and guarantee his rating would plummet and be the worst player on renegades

2018-09-25 08:08
The problem is bro these guys would be at the lower end of the pay scale. For what Renegades are paying these guys there is no other team they can get that will get them to Major's/stickers like the AU players can because of the easy Asian Minor qualifier.

They really need to drop ustilo.. somethings coming as ryu said.. they need some fresh talent to bring in new ideas, change structure etc.. Couldnt pay a tier1 player enough to join them.. they are lucky jkaem stayed.. I see the rng core as : nifty, jkaem, jks.. They will import a au player again.. drop azr/ustilo

I think AZR is okay, But I think he would need to be entrying T side and filling in the gaps on CT, Honestly just add fucking Liazz for Ustilo, That’s some insane firepower and if there is still a problem then okay maybe replace AZR for a structured IGL, But I think just swapping Ustilo for Liazz could see massive improvements
