device wins BLAST Pro Series Istanbul MVP award

Nicolai "device" Reedtz has claimed the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of BLAST Pro Series Istanbul by HLTV.org and Betway.

Astralis's AWPer secured the award after inspiring his team to win the $250,000 event after the closely contested grand final, in which the Danes beat MIBR 2-1.

device beat two of his teammates to the MVP medal, Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth and Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, as well as MIBR's Marcelo "coldzera" David, all of whom were in contention for the award before the grand final began.

device claimed his fourth MVP award of 2018 after leading Astralis to another title

With a 1.39 rating, device was the highest-rated player of the tournament following a consistent performance in the group stage and especially a great showing in the final best-of-three, in which he averaged a 1.48 rating after kicking off the series with a jaw-dropping 2.72 rating on the opening map, Train.

The 23-year-old appeared in several other leaderboards apart from overall rating, such as in damage per round (88.4, 2nd), kills per round (0.87, 1st), as well as opening kills (0.17, 1st) and success in opening duels (78%, 1st).

This is device's ninth MVP award overall and his fourth in 2018, after he secured the accolade at ECS Season 5 Finals, ELEAGUE Premier, and the FACEIT Major over the course of the last five months.

I would understand that could be a problem if only the #1 comment was allowed. But everyone can write their comment even if it's #100 and will still be seen in the comment section. Let him be #1. Is he upsetting you because he got #1?

2018-09-29 23:22
Before the major I thought there was still hope for s1mple, however his performance throughout the tournament isn’t good enough to gain a better rating, in the same time NaVi plays so bad in recent matches. Thus the only chance for s1mple are those tournaments in the next 3 months, which also means he has to perform way much better and win some trophies while showing godlike plays.

2018-09-29 23:16
cold top5 ahahah trololo
2018-09-29 23:23
cold has no point of being a top 5 player, he is a great player, very smart and good spray control, but he is more like a "system"player for me, he gets put into position to get his kills mostly. His skill ceiling is way lower than of the likes of niko, simple or device and their respective mechanical skills. Thats no flame towards cold, just my opinion.
2018-09-29 23:53
3 replies
Well your opinion is just as trash as putting cold top 5. Cold is great mechanically, slightly below Niko and s1mple respectively but definitely on the same level as device. Devices strength is not his supreme mechanical skill, its reading enemies, positioning well, rotating well and being extremely efficient.
2018-09-30 00:04
2 replies
So you basically got mostly the same opinion but say mine is trash? r8 8/8 I'd put device slightly above coldzera overall, but Niko/simple are more than "slightly" above cold, theres quite a gap with unlimited potential for the first 2.
