Fragsters upset BIG; NRG edge out Vega Squadron at StarSeries
Johannes "nex" Maget was crisp in the pistol round, getting two instant picks as Fragsters tried to explode through the squeaky door onto the A site of Nuke. BIG picked up the pistol off the back of that, but Fragsters replied swiftly to take a 4-1 lead. With Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and Owen "smooya" Butterfield leading the way, BIG won two rounds confidently and established themselves on the CT side.
As the score was 7-5 in favor of the German side, Fragsters rushed down smooya who was playing ramp on his own and went into the lower site with a 4v2 advantage, but Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch's hero 3K saved the round for BIG. Still, the young Danes managed to bounce back and secure the last two rounds of the half to end it trailing minimally, 8-7.
Nicolai "torben" Amorim and co. tried to disrupt BIG before they executed on the pistol round, but BIG still got the trades and won the post-plant on A (9-7). Fatih "gob b" Dayik's side increased their lead to 12-7 when Fragsters made an anti-eco scary for them by stacking Hell with CZ-75s, but it took the double AWP coming out on Ismail "refrezh" Ali and Jacob "dragonfly" Lund for Fragsters to start picking up rounds and make it 13-9.
BIG then faked Yard control and hit the upper bombsite quickly to end the Danes streak quickly, but Fragsters didn't falter and kept locking down the sites, even after their opponents reached match point, and brought it back to 15-14. BIG wasn't able to close it out as refrezh found two openings with the AWP, and overtime ensued. In the added rounds, Fragsters managed two rounds on the CT side with the help of torben who aced on the B defense. That was enough for them to close out the game, 19-16.

With Dmitriy "jR" Chervak clutching a 1v3 in the pistol round on Inferno, Vega Squadron grabbed the early lead as Terrorists, but then had a blunder in round three, against USP-S, allowing NRG to get on the board early. The North American side had a 4-2 lead when Ethan "Ethan" Arnold grabbed four kills on B, adding a round to his team's tally single-handedly.
Vega Squadron's first gun round win came off the back of a Pavel "hutji" Lashkov hero play, as the Russian ran into the A site on his own and caused enough chaos to unlock the defense and start a streak of rounds going his team's way. With Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov's double-entry on Banana, the Russian side managed to edge back into the lead (7-6), and finish the half 8-7 up.
After winning the pistol, NRG were explosive in the first buy round and quickly put Vega Squadron on the back foot on the CT side. After ecoing, the Sharks pulled out the double AWP, but it was chopper with the M4A4 in CT that brought them their first round on the CT side. NRG was set to reset them in the followup, but some sloppy play allowed Vega Squadron to come back into it and pull off the A site retake.
Rounds were traded back and forth as both teams were nearing the 16-round mark, with forcebuys being won by both NRG and Vega Squadron. Anton "tonyblack" Kolesnikov and jR joined hutji in the 20+ kill bracket in the second half, but even then, they couldn't win the game straight out, but only secure overtime. In the end, NRG was just slightly better, and won the game 19-17 to go 1-0 at StarSeries.
